    • PURPOSE:To assemble a shadow mask into the inside of a panel accurately by engaging three elastic supporting members in a predetermined shape with three stud pins to be locked, and supporting a shadow mask inside of a panel temporarily, and thereafter, welding the shadow mask integrally at a panel opening side end of lock parts where a connection and fixation part is engaged with a stud pin for lock. CONSTITUTION:Each nearly v-shaped elastic supporting member 31a in the integral structure is welded to each outside face of three corners of a mask frame 7, and a connection and fixation part 36, which consists of a fixation part 32b and a connection part 34b connected integrally with each other and for forming a nearly z-shaped elastic supporting member 31b, is welded to the residual one corner. A shadow mask 5 is supported temporarily inside of a panel 2 by three nearly v-shaped elastic supporting members 31a, and a locking part 33b forming the nearly z-shaped elastic supporting member 31b is engaged for lock with the stud pin 30 facing to the connection and fixation part 36, and they are welded at an opening side end 37 of the panel 2. A universal member of panel and mask is thereby assembled accurately, and workability of the assembly can be improved.

    • PURPOSE:To improve the resolution on the whole screen by forming the third quadrupole lens with adjacent intermediate electrodes in addition to the first quadrupole lens strongly focusing an electron beam in the vertical direction and the second quadrupole lens strongly diverging the electron beam. CONSTITUTION:The main lens section of an electron gun is constituted of a focusing electrode G5, intermediate electrodes Gm1, Gm2, and a final accelerating electrode G6. The first quadrupole lens strongly focusing an electron beam in the vertical direction is formed with G5 and Gm1, and the second quadrupole lens strongly diverging the electron beam is formed with G6 and Gm2. A noncircular opening is formed on one of Gm1, Gm2, and the third quadrupole lens is formed with Gm1, Gm2. The voltage applied to G6 is divided by a resistor 31 and applied to Gm1, Gm2. The lens actions of the first and second quadrupole lenses can be corrected and balanced, and the resolution on the whole screen is improved.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain a color picture tube generating no color drift on a screen by exposing an exposed layer with the displacement of a shadow mask against a panel by the preset quantity in the downward direction when the color picture tube is operated with its tube axis kept horizontal. CONSTITUTION:A displacing means 40 is provided on an exposing device, and a photosensitive film 18 and a phosphor slurry layer formed on the inner face of a panel 1 are baked via a shadow mask 6. The shadow mask 6 is forcibly displaced by the preset quantity in the downward direction of the panel side 44a when a color picture tube is operated with its tube axis kept horizontal for exposure, thus a phosphor screen is formed. When the tube axis is made vertical (panel is made horizontal), the matching relationship between three-color phosphor dots of the phosphor screen and the shadow mask is drifted, but when the picture tube is incorporated in a television set with the tube axis kept horizontal, the positional relationship between the three-color phosphor dots of the phosphor screen and the shadow mask becomes the same state as that when the photosensitive film 18 and the phosphor screen slurry layer are baked, and a picture tube generating no color drift is obtained.
