摘要： PURPOSE:To form a copy image of high picture quality by using setting resin which is derived from epoxy resin, a tert-butyl phenol novolak resin setting agent as the base material of a conductive layer and dispersing conductive particles in the base material. CONSTITUTION:The conductive roll is constituted by forming the conductive layer 12 on the outer periphery of a shaft body 11 along the circumference, and the conductive layer 12 is formed by using setting resin, derived from the epoxy resin, tert-butyl phenol novolak resin setting agent, as the base material and dispersing conductive particles in the base material. Namely, the epoxy resin and tert-butyl phenol novolak resin (tBu-phenol novolak) are used in combination as the conductive resin material which constitutes a developing roll, and then when negative electrostatically charged toner is charged electrostatically to the negative polarity by the developing roll which uses the conductive roll, the electrostatic charging quantity of negative charges is improved since the tert-buthy group is high in electron donative ability. Consequently, the picture quality increase effect of the copy image is obtained.

Namely, a material consisting principally of tert-butyl phenol novolak resin (tBu-phenol novolak) is used as the conductive resin material which constitutes the developing roll and when negative electrostatically charged toner is charged electrostatically to the negative polarity by using the developing roll which uses the roll, the electrosatic charging quantity of negative charges to the negative electrostatically charged toner is improved since the tert-buthy group is high in electron donative ability. Consequently, the picture quality increase effect of the copy image can be obtained.

摘要： PURPOSE:To rapidly measure the electrical resistance of a resistor without causing any stain or flaw, by determining its resistivity from the surface potential measured under an identical condition based on a relationship between the resistivity and surface potential for a resistor of a known resistivity under a specific condition. CONSTITUTION:A roller 10 coated with a resistor 14 of known resistivity is fitted on a shaft 16, driven by a motor 24, and electrically charged by an electrifying device 26, and its surface potential is measured by a potential meter 34 through a probe 32. The measured values of the surface potential and the associated resistivity values of the resistor coated layer 14 are plotted to prepare a calibration curve between them. Then, a roller 10 is formed by coating a conductive roller 12 with a material of unknown resistance to be measured, its surface potential is measured under an identical condition, and the resistance is determined based on the calibration curve. Thus, the resistance of a resistor can be measured rapidly without causing any stain or flaw in that resistor to be measured.

This resin blend is a thermosetting resin prepared by blending a phenol resin and polyvinyl butyral which is one kind of adhesive to form a vinyl phenol resin structure. Generally, 1-20 pts.wt. of phenol resin is compounded to 10 pts.wt. of polyvinyl butyral. It is advantageous to incorporate >=2% polyvinyl butyral-phenol resin blend having >=1.64×10mol.wt. measured by gel permeation chromatography.
