    • Data Block Transmission with Variable Retransmission Feedback Time For communicating data between a transmitter (10) and a receiver (14), wireless transmission of data blocks is implemented on the basis a retransmission protocol with variable value of a feedback time. The feedback time defines a time interval between transmission of one of the data blocks (22) and transmission of a feedback message (23) indicating whether the data block (22) was successfully received. The transmitter (10) or the receiver (14) determines the value of the feedback time. Depending on the determined value of the feedback time, the transmitter (10) controls transmission of the data block (22) to the receiver and/or the receiver (14) controls reception of the data block (22) at the receiver (14). The transmitter (10) may for example be a base station of a mobile network, and the receiver (14) may be a terminal device connected to the mobile network. (Fig. 1)

    • A method of controlling operation of a communication device arranged to operate in a cellular communication network employing a paging signal to allow discontinuous reception for communication devices is disclosed. The communication device is arranged for three main communication states: detached state where the communication device is not registered to the cellular communication network; idle state where the communication device is registered to the cellular communication network, and receives paging signals through discontinuous reception; and active state where the communication device is registered to the cellular communication network and performs communication with the cellular communication network essentially continuously. The method comprises: i) connecting to the cellular communication network such that a transition from the detached state to any of idle state or active state is made; ii) performing scheduled operations in the active state or idle state; iii) determining, when a transition from the active state to the idle state occurs, time instant for next operation in the active state; iv) disconnecting from the cellular communication network such that a transition to the detached state is made; and v) when the time for next operation in the active state is approaching, returning the procedure to step i). A transceiver and a computer program are also disclosed.

    • Methods and apparatus taught herein estimate the amount by which to reduce a multi-carrier signal's maximum transmit power based on metrics specific to each carrier of the multi-carrier signal. These carrier-specific metrics may include a maximum-power reduction or cubic metric determined for that carrier as if it would be transmitted alone. In one embodiment, estimation of the required back-off is based on a weighted sum of the carrier-specific metrics, where the weights applied depend on a power ratio. Only a few relatively small look-up tables or simple computations are required in this case one for obtaining the carrier-specific metrics based on configuration parameters of each carrier, and another for obtaining the weights based on the power ratio. Accordingly, methods and apparatus herein advantageously require less computational complexity and/or memory usage than that needed if estimating the required back-off based on similar metrics obtained for the multi-carrier signal as a whole.

    • The invention relates to a radio base station and method for a radio base station of a cellular communications system for controlling self- interference. The radio base station supports communication with a user equipment using multiple uplink and multiple downlink carriers. The method comprises detecting a degraded downlink performance on a downlink carrier due to self - interference by determining that a set of predefined conditions applies. The method further comprises executing, in response to detection of the degraded downlink performance, an action to reduce self - interference between the uplink and downlink carriers. The action is one of: uplink scheduling to reduce self - interference, deactivation of a secondary uplink carrier, deactivation of a secondary downlink carrier, and initiation of carrier reconfiguration to reduce self - interference. Accordingly, benefits of using multi - carrier operation may be balanced against a possible associated drawback of degraded downlink performance due to self - interference.
