    • Methods and apparatus are provided for operating a telecommunications network (20) which comprises at least one femtocell and at least one macrocell, each femtocell and each macrocell being associated with a Tracking Area. The method comprises (when a wireless terminal (30) accesses a femtocell or possibly a cell in the vicinity of the femtocell) including an identifier of the femtocell in a Tracking Area Identity list provided to the wireless terminal (30), and thereby enabling the wireless terminal (30) to avoid performing a Tracking Area Update when moving between the femtocell and another tracking area included in the Tracking Area Identity list. The method also comprises (when the wireless terminal (30) is to be paged) initially issuing a paging message only to a portion of the cells having corresponding identifiers included in the Tracking Area Identity list. Optionally the method also comprises determining that the wireless terminal (30) is accessing the telecommunications network (20) through a femtocell.

    • A policy control architecture and method for dynamically allocating policy servers to mobile devices is described herein. The policy control architecture introduces a new policy control element called the policy server control function. The policy server control function dynamically allocates policy servers to mobile subscribers when the mobile subscribers attach to an access network. In some embodiments, the policy server control function may also deallocate policy servers when mobile subscribers detach from all access networks to make the policy server resources available for other mobile devices.

    • The present invention relates to a method, an Access Selection Server and a communication network 27 for network access selection 26. The network comprises an Access Selection Server (ASS) 10, at least one User Equipment (UE) 14, an Access Selection Client (ASC) 21 arranged in the UE 14 and communication nodes 11, 12. The ASS collects 23 access selection parameters used for the selection 26 of access network for the network access for the UE 14 in a multi-access environment. The network access enables a traffic bearer for a traffic flow between an application in the UE 14 and a first node. The ASS 10 forwards 25 the access selection parameters and/or processes 23 the access selection parameters and sends 25 the results of the processed parameters to the UE 14. The parameters forwarded 25 or the results sent 25 by the ASS 21 being access selection information, based on which the ASC 21 performs 26 activation of new network accesses and/or selection, modification, deactivation or change of existing network accesses in order to enable the traffic flow.     • The present invention relates to arrangements in a Public Land Mobile Network, PLMN, for selecting a gateway to which to connect a User Equipment, UE, located in an access network connected to a visited PLMN of a user of the UE, wherein the PLMN is a home PLMN of the user of the UE. The arrangement comprises means for receiving a first FQDN, wherein the first FQDN comprises an identity of the user of the UE and the home PLMN is aware of an identity of the visited PLMN. Further, it comprises means for selecting, at least based on the received identity of the user, whether the UE should establish connection only to a gateway in the home PLMN, only to a gateway in the visited PLMN or to both a gateway in the home PLMN and a gateway in the visited PLMN and means for transmitting an address belonging to a gateway in the visited PLMN if connection only to a gateway in the visited PLMN is selected or an address belonging to a gateway in the home PLMN if connection only to a gateway in the home PLMN is selected or addresses belonging to both a gateway in the home PLMN and a gateway in the visited PLMN if connection to both is selected. The invention also relates to a User Equipment and methods thereof.

    • An access node for an Ethernet network is connected between an access point of user devices and a broadband remote access server for access to a plurality of service providng networks. It includes a VLAN handling unit having a memory for storing identifications of Ethernet frames transmitted in a first VLAN including the access node and a local virtual router function unit of of the access server in a second VLANs. Each of the second VLANs including the access node, the local virtual router function unit and one of the virtual router function units of the access server for each of the virtual router function units. A control unit commands the handling unit to transmit frames from a new user device that has connected itself to the access point into the first virtrual local area network.
