    • Methods, network entities (215a-216c), and user equipment (UE) (210a-210b) are described for use in a communication system (200) including a wireless local area network (WLAN) (204a-204b) and a telecommunications network including a radio access network (202a-202c) and a core network part. A network entity (215b) receives a WLAN access message from a UE (210a). The WLAN access message includes an indication of the UE status with the telecommunication network. The network entity (215b) detects the indication of UE status and determines from the indication whether to allow the UE access to the WLAN (204b). When the WLAN (204b) is integrated with the telecommunications network, the network entity (215b) sends a query to the telecommunication network (e.g. the RAN (202a-202c) or core network part) for a decision based on the UE status with the telecommunication network. The indication may include data representative of RAN or core network accessibility information (e.g. limited service or no coverage), WLAN access only, a user preference for accessing the WLAN (204b) instead of the telecommunication network, and/or any other connectivity or preference information for use by the WLAN (204b) or network entity (215b) in determining whether to allow UE (210a) to access WLAN (204b).

    • The present invention provides a method of detecting a faulty network element in a network, the network comprising at least a plurality of first network elements having a first network element type, and at least a plurality of second network elements having a second network element type. The method comprises the steps of: a) selecting one of the plurality of first network elements and one of the plurality of second network elements; b) attempting to set up a connection between said selected first network element and said selected second network element; c) repeating steps a) and b) for further selected first and second network elements; d) for each of the plurality of first network elements and for each of the plurality of second network elements, counting a number of connections that are released as the result of a fault; and e) for a particular one of the first or second network elements, on the basis of said number of connections that are released in said particular network element as a result of a fault, determining whether said particular network element is faulty.

    • The present invention relates to a network node and a method in method in a network node of a wireless communications system that allow for power efficient scheduling of transmission of application data over a radio interface. According to the method, information is received (71, 72) about a power consumption profile of a transmit unit and about estimated required average output transmission power of the transmit unit for transmitting an amount of application data in a time interval. The method also includes a step of making (73) a scheduling decision, comprising a type of load distribution to be used in the time interval for transmitting the amount of application data, based on the received information. In another step (74) the scheduling decision is provided to the transmit unit as a scheduling order for transmission of the application data over the radio interface. The invention also relates to a mobile station and core network node configured to provide a network node with power consumption profile information.
