SOLUTION: In the optical disk drive for obtaining the Miller signal by detecting a bottom signal from a signal played back from the optical disk and binarizing the bottom signal by comparting it with a reference level signal, a linear velocity measuring device for measuring the linear velocity at the playback operation of the specified position of the optical disk and a reference level variable setting means for variably setting the reference level signal when the measured linear velocity is lower than the prescribed value are provided, thereby, which disk is being produced out of the standardized optical disk and nonstandardized optical disk, is recognized from the measured linear velocity, and for the nonstandardized optical disk, the error of the Miller signal is reduced by variably setting the reference level signal.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the consumption of a battery by switching to an operation mode for performing recording/reproducing at a high speed when a disk device is driven by a commercial power source and switching to a 2nd operation mode for performing recording/reproducing at a low speed when the device is driven by the battery. SOLUTION: When the battery 19 is connected to a battery socket 20, a power source of +5V is supplied from the battery 19 to a power source terminal T1 of the disk device and a power source terminal T2 of a personal computer main body. Since a diode D for generating a power source discriminating signal is reversed at this time, a line from a positive terminal TBATT+ to a power source discriminating terminal T3 is at a low level. Then, when a plug 21 is connected to a DC socket 18, the direction from a positive terminal TDC+ of the socket 18 to the terminal T1 and the terminal T2 is the same as the forward direction of the diode D, so that a DC power source from the plug 21 is supplied via the diode D to the terminals T1 and T2 .

    • PURPOSE: To make a device have a high speed reproducing function of data and to reduce incidence of a read error which cannot be corrected. CONSTITUTION: An optical disk reproducing means 1 reproduces data with the prescribed data reproducing speed set by the optical disk or a data reproducing rate faster than a prescribed data reproducing rate. An error correction processing means 2 performs error detection and error correction for the prescribed data length, outputs reproduced data in which an error is already corrected, when error correction cannot be performed, a correction impossible error signal is outputted. A reproduction control means 3 sets the fastest data reproducing speed for the optical disk reproducing means 1 in an initial stage state, when reproduction cannot be performed without causing a correction impossible error even if reproduction is repeated by controlling the optical disk reproducing means 1 for data of the prescribed length in which a correction impossible error is caused, the means 3 sets a data reproducing speed slower than the present data reproducing rate for the optical disk reproducing means 1.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent errors of recorded information and reproduced information due to a change in an ambient temperature by detecting the ambient temperature at a place wherein an optical disk apparatus is installed and by altering an amount of control on the state of irradiation of a light beam when recording and reproduction instruction signals are not generated for a prescribed time. CONSTITUTION:A detection output of a temperature detector 20 is inputted to a control element 8, and the control element 8 detects an ambient temperature. When a timer T starts time count from a time point of non-generation of instruction signals for recording and reproduction of information and counts a prescribed time, in other words, when the instruction signals are not generated for the prescribed time, the control element 8 judges that the recording and reproduction of the information are not executed, and alters an amount of control for driving a linear motor 1c and an electromagnetic actuator 1d, on the basis of moving average values of offset and gain in the past. When the ambient temperature of a place of installation changes, according to this constitution, an amount of control on the state of irradiation of a light beam is corrected in terms of temperature and thereby errors of recorded information and reproduced information can be prevented.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correctly control the irradiating state of a light beam by controlling the irradiating state of the light beam while reading out stored controller variables every time a temp. detection result reaches a prescribed temp. range or a temp. change reaches a prescribed value to make a storage capacity small. SOLUTION: When command signals to be applied to the driving circuits 13, 14 of a linear motor IC and an electromagnetic actuator 1d are not generated for a prescribed time a control circuit 8 judges that the recording and reproducing of information is not present and it reads out respective values of stored offsets and gains till then from a memory 15. Then, it sets these offset values and gain values every prescribed temp. range or every time the temp. change reaches a prescribed temp. to preliminarily store them in the memory 15 and it reads out an offset value and an gain value corresponding to a detected temp. at the time of changing an offset and an gain to change them. Then, when an ambient temp. is changed, the circuit 8 is changed to controlled variables related to its ambient temps. and the light beam is subjected to a tracking control and, then, the proper tracking control of the light beam is performed without being affected by the change in ambient temps.
