    • A liquid crystal display (LCD) includes a pixel unit having pixels, each of the pixels positioned at a corresponding intersection of gate lines and data lines. A drive circuit unit is positioned at one side of the pixel unit to supply driving signals to the gate lines and the data lines. Test pads are connected to the data lines. In the LCD, each of the data lines is electrically connected between the pixel unit and the drive circuit unit via one or more lines among a first line formed in a first layer and a second line formed in a second layer, and wherein each of the data lines is connected to a different test pad from the test pad connected to adjacent data lines in each of the first and second layers.

    • A liquid crystal display device and a method of manufacturing the same are provided. The liquid crystal display device is manufactured by placing a half tone mask on the assembled first and second substrates in a polymerization process of liquid crystal composition disposed between the first and second substrates. The liquid crystal composition includes liquid crystal molecules and reactive mesogens. The half tone mask has a first transmission part and a second transmission part. The light transmittance of the first transmission part is higher than the light transmittance of the second transmission part. The first transmission part is disposed in the pixel region, while the second transmission part is disposed in the non-pixel region. The non-pixel region is covered by a black matrix that is formed on the second substrate. Through this manufacturing method, the generation of spots around a black matrix is prevented.

    • A liquid crystal display uses a layout which reduces the number of data lines relative to the number of pixel columns by providing one data line for every two pixel columns. The display is structured to prevent a passivation layer from becoming opaque due to a manufacturing haze effect by forming the pixel electrode below a gate insulating layer. It is structured to prevent a drain electrode from being damaged due to an etchant used for patterning the pixel electrode. Further, it is structured to prevent a short circuit between a common voltage line and a gate line while not substantially reducing an aperture ratio by disposing a common voltage contact hole for electrically connecting the common voltage line with a common electrode between vertically extending portions of two gate lines that generally extend horizontally.

    • A thin-film transistor (TFT) substrate includes a base substrate, a semiconductor layer, a gate insulating layer, a first gate electrode and a second gate electrode. The semiconductor layer is formed on the base substrate and includes source, drain, channel and low concentration doped regions. The channel region is formed between the source and drain regions. The low concentration doped region is formed between the source and channel regions and between the drain and channel regions. The gate insulating layer is formed on the semiconductor layer. The first gate electrode is formed on the gate insulating layer to be overlapped with the channel region. The second gate electrode is formed on the second gate electrode. The gate insulating layer includes first and second regions, and a thickness of the first region is thinner than that of the second region. Thus, electric characteristics of the TFT may be enhanced.
