    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for measuring the concentration of chlorine in a chlorine-containing sulfuric acid solution with high precision. SOLUTION: In the method for measuring the concentration of chlorine in the chlorine-containing sulfuric acid solution, the maximum absorbance in an absorption band with a wavelength of 450 nm or more and 500 nm or less is measured with respect to a solution, which is obtained by mixing a sulfuric acid solution known in its chlorine concentration with N, N'-bis (2, 4-disulfobenzyl)tolidine and/or an alkali metal salt thereof, and a relational expression of the obtained maximum absorbance and the concentration of chlorine is preliminarily is calculated. Subsequently, the maximum absorbance in the absorption band with the wavelength of 450 nm or more and 500 nm or less is measured with respect to a solution, which is obtained by mixing a sulfuric acid solution containing chlorine to be measured with N, N'-bis (2, 4-disulfobenzyl)tolidine and/or the alkali metal salt thereof and the concentration of chlorine is calculated from the obtained maximum absorbance and the relational expression.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a 4-nitrosodiphenylamine in good operability, with which excellent selectivity is maintained, agglomeration of a 4-nitrosodiphenylamine is controlled and fine particles are obtained in good dispersibility so that adhesion of the agglomerated material to a reactor wall and a stirring shaft is prevented.
      SOLUTION: The method for producing a 4-nitrosodiphenylamine comprises reacting a diphenylamine with a nitrosating agent and hydrogen chloride in the presence of a surfactant in a solvent. In the method, a nitrosating agent selected from nitrosyl chloride, a nitrite, an alkyl nitrite and a nitrogen oxide is preferable as the nitrosating agent and a nonionic surfactant or an anionic surfactant is preferable as the surfactant.
