    • A printing system and method is provided. The printing system includes one or more printing system modules, at least one media sheet path interfacing the printing system modules, and a job scheduler for executing one or more printing system print jobs. The job scheduler routes a media sheet to one or more printing system modules for preshrinking or preenlarging without marking and subsequently routes the preshrunk or preenlarged media sheet to one or more printing system modules for marking. The method of printing includes generating a print job to be printed using one or more printing system modules. Print jobs requiring two or more printing system modules for marking are executed by routing a media sheet to one or more printing system modules for preshrinking or preenlarging without marking, and subsequently routing the preshrunk or preenlarged media sheet to the one or more printing modules for marking.

    • Embodiments according to the present disclosure provide methods and systems of determining nip velocity profiles in a medium registration system, including parameterizing a set of equations into a set of standard parameters, the set of equations representing an analytic form of the nip velocity profiles; determining values of the parameters through an iteration process; and determining the nip velocity profiles based on the determined values of the parameters. The embodiments separately provide systems and methods of simulating a medium registration process, including inputting an error parameter to a velocity nominal profile of a nip in a medium registration system; determining an output value of the velocity nominal profile; and using the output value in a regression algorithm to obtain a simulated relationship, the simulated relationship indicative of a manner in which the error parameter influences the output value. The embodiments separately provide systems and methods of determining an angular velocity of a medium relative to a nip in a medium registration system, including determining a path of the nip on the medium; and determining the angular velocity as a function of a position of the nip in the path. The embodiments separately provide systems and methods of controlling nips of a medium registration system, including wagging a medium relative to a center line of two nips of the medium registration system; and then unwagging the medium relative to the center line of the two nips.

    • An imaging device for producing multicolor images from image data containing data representing an image of a first color and an image of a second color to be registered relative to the image of the first color onto a substrate by transferring toner of the first and second colors to the substrate is provided. The imaging device includes a first imager, a second imager, a photoreceptor belt, a plurality of rollers mounted to a frame of the imaging device, an angular position sensor, an image data source and a controller. The plurality of rollers define a process path along which the photoreceptor belt is driven past the first and second imagers in a process direction. The plurality of rollers includes a drive roller that exhibits an eccentricity for which a formula relating angular position as a function of the phase angle of the drive roller to eccentricity is known. The angular position sensor detects the phase angle of the drive roller. The image data source generates image data that includes a line to be printed in the first color and in the second color. The controller is coupled to receive signals from the angular position sensor, ROS imager and image data source and is configured to drive the second imager to generate an optical output. The controller includes memory and a processor. The memory stores the formula relating angular position as a function of the phase angle of the drive roller to eccentricity. The processor calculates an appropriate time delay for starting the generation of the optical output of the second imager for printing the line to be printed in the first color and in the second color based on the time of the starting of the optical output by the ROS imager to print to print that line, the signal received from the angular position sensor, and the formula relating angular position as a function of the phase angle of the drive roller to eccentricity.

    • A method for improving color-to-color registration in a printing device. The method includes printing a plurality of multi-color images, measuring the relative locations of a first portion of each multi-color image having a first color of each image and a second portion of each multi-color image having a second color of each image, for each image, comparing at least one difference between the first portion's location and the second portion's location with at least one desired difference between the first portion's location and the second portion's location to generate a list of positional errors, using a least square regression analysis of the list of positional errors to determine shift amounts required for placement of each first portion in subsequently generated images to within a desired degree of accuracy, and adjusting the placement of the first portion of each subsequently generated image by the determined shift amounts.
