    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent light of a light source from leaking from a space between a light emitting surface of the light source directly mounted on a drive board and a light entering surface of a light guide plate to degrade light emission efficiency of the light source.
      SOLUTION: This backlight device 5 is structured such that the light guide plate 9 is arranged on the drive board 7 with the light source 6 directly mounted thereon by facing the light entering surface 9a to the light emitting surface 6a of the light source 6; light emitted from the light source 6 is guided into the light guide plate 9 from the light entering surface 9a; and the light guided into the light guide plate 9 is refracted by a diffusion sheet 10 and prism sheets 11 and 12 stacked on the light guide plate 9, and emitted to a liquid crystal display panel 4 side. One end of the prism sheet 11 close to the light guide plate 9 within the prism sheets 11 and 12 is extended to the light source 6 side to cover the upper part of a gap δ between the light source 6 and the light guide plate 9, and light leaking from the gap δ is reflected by the prism sheet 11 and returned to the light entering surface 9a side of the light guide plate 9.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a problem of a semiconductor light emitting device obtaining a white light with a sulfide phosphor that blackening on the surface of a lead frame reduces a reflection factor.
      SOLUTION: A semiconductor light emitting apparatus 1 comprises: an LED 3 which has electrodes 3a, 3b; a substrate 4 on which the LED 3 is mounted; lead frames 7, 8 which are connected to the electrodes 3a, 3b of the LED 3 via bonding wires 5, 6 respectively; and a sealing resin 9 which is placed on the lead frames 7, 8 with the LED 3, the substrate 4, and the bonding wires 5, 6 sealed (buried). A sulfide system phosphor 10 is mixed in the sealing resin 9. The sulfide system phosphor 10 is hit by a light emitted from the LED 3, to emit the white light. Reflection film layers 14 as the surfaces of the lead frames 7, 8 are made of any of tin, nickel, aluminum, platinum, bismuth, rhodium, titanium, and tantalum, which are difficult to be blackened by the sulfide of the sulfide system phosphor 10.
