    • An image processing system according to an embodiment includes an image storage device and a playing control device. The image storage device stores four-dimensional data that is a sequential volume data group chronologically acquired and control information for controlling playing of the four-dimensional data. The playing control device acquires the sequential volume data group and the control information from the image storage device and successively plays the sequential volume data group according to the control information. The control information contains identification information that identifies that data is volume data that belongs to the sequential volume data group acquired chronologically and identification information that identifies that volume data that is used as a reference for successive playing from among the sequential volume data group is reference volume data.

    • An image display system according to an embodiment includes a controlling apparatus and a display apparatus. The controlling apparatus includes a judging unit and a switching control unit, whereas the display apparatus includes a switching unit. Based on information related to viewing of an image, the judging unit judges whether the image to be displayed by the display apparatus is an image for a stereoscopic view or an image for a planar view. The switching control unit exercises control so as to switch the display apparatus into a stereoscopic view mode or a planar view mode, according to a judgment result of the judging unit. The switching unit switches the display apparatus into the stereoscopic view mode or the planar view mode, according to the control of the switching control unit.

    • In an image processing system according to an embodiment, a display unit simultaneously displays a predetermined number of parallax images. A parallax image generation control unit performs control such that a group of parallax images of point-of-view positions which are larger in number than the predetermined number is generated. A display control unit classifies the group of the parallax images into a first parallax image sub group including a set of parallax images whose point-of-view positions are discontinuous to each other and a second parallax image sub group including parallax images whose point-of-view positions are between the set of the parallax images, and performs control such that the display unit displays the first parallax image sub group and the second parallax image sub group while switching the first parallax image sub group and the second parallax image sub group at a predetermined switching speed.
