    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal capable of specifying an unauthorized user by storing a still image in a memory when a correct release code is not input from operation keys within a prescribed period of time after executing a preparatory operation for use.
      SOLUTION: The portable terminal includes an upper casing 2 which includes a liquid-crystal panel 23, a camera 21, and a speaker 22; and a lower casing 1 including a mike 11, and a plurality of the operation keys 12. The camera 21 takes a photograph when the upper casing 2 of a portable telephone (A) left in the two-folded state is opened. The still image 42 is not stored in the memory when the correct release code is input with the operation keys 12 within five seconds after opening the casing. The still image 42 is stored in the memory when the correct release code is not input.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method for synthesizing ethyl t-butyl ether (ETBE) by using an aqueous ethanol, and a device for the same.
      SOLUTION: This method for synthesizing ETBE is provided by using a C4 component such as the C4 component, etc., consisting mainly of isobutene (IB) and obtained by pressurizing/liquefying at a normal temperature, and the aqueous ethanol (EtOH) which is a rectified material of bioethanol, as raw materials. By using a reaction device (a reaction column) 14 equipped with a fixed catalytic reaction stage 22, the ETBE together with t-butyl alcohol (TBA) are synthesized by performing the liquid phase reaction of IB with EtOH and water stoichiometrically under the mild conditions of a middle pressure (≥1,000 kPa) and middle temperature (≥100°C). By using a multiple number of distillation columns equipped with water-washing column, which becomes an azeotropic distillation process, after the synthesis of ETBE accompanying TBA, the dehydration of the raw material EtOH by the azeotropic distillation process is made as unnecessary.
