    • Provided in the present specification is an optical connector boot including: an attachment portion attached to a connector ferrule, and a cable passing portion through which a flat type optical fiber cable is passed, in which there is provided at one longitudinal end of the cable passing portion an inlet for introducing the flat type optical fiber cable into the cable passing portion, in which there is provided in the attachment portion an outlet for drawing out the flat type optical fiber cable inserted into the cable passing portion, and in which the inlet and the outlet differ from each other in orientation so that the flat type optical fiber cable inserted into the cable passing portion through the inlet may be twisted around its axis within the cable passing portion by drawing it out of the outlet. According to an optical connector of the present invention, a flat type optical fiber cable inserted into and secured in a ferrule is covered with the optical connector boot.

    • An optical connector for making connection with a connecting partner side and releasing this connection is provided. The optical connector has an optical connector housing. The optical connector housing is formed by inserting a slider into a base end wall of an arm side member so as to be freely advanced and retreated. A cam following face is formed on an inner wall face of an arm portion of the arm side member. A claw portion is formed on a tip side of the arm portion. An opening angle driving cam member is connected to a tip side of the slider. A ferrule is arranged between the arm portions on a forward side of the opening angle driving cam member. When the slide is moved backward, the opening angle driving cam member is moved backward and is operated to angularly open the arm portion through the cam following face. This opening angle state is maintained by making the opening angle driving cam member abut on a stationary face of the cam following face. The claw portion is dislocated from an engaging position with the connecting partner side by the angular opening of the arm portion so that the connection of the optical connector is released.

    • Mobile nodes are allowed to move around within an intermittent communication environment. A mobile node wirelessly communicates with an access node when approaching the access node, and stores data. The access node stores an action history for each mobile node, and generates a forwarder list in association with a destination node, based on action histories of the mobile nodes. The forwarder list stores one or more identifies each identifying a first mobile node in the order of an arrival probability indicating a probability that the first mobile node succeeds in delivering the data to the destination node. The access node selects second mobile nodes that are to carry the data to the destination node, based on the forwarder list, and transfers the data to one of the second mobile nodes when a communication link is established between the access node and the one of the second mobile nodes.

    • Method and compositions for reducing the inflammation after cytokine exposure of an islet cell transplant without affecting the viability and potency are disclosed herein. The present invention describes a composition comprising Withaferin A (WA), a steroidal lactone derived from Withania somnifera to effectively block NF-kB activation in beta cells, minimize cytokine-induced cell death and improve survival of transplanted islets. The method of the present invention involves identifying a subject having islet cells in need of treatment; and providing a effective amount of a Withaferin A composition disposed in a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier in an amount sufficient to reduce the inflammation after cytokine exposure without affecting the viability and potency of the islet cell population.
