    • An image conversion apparatus includes an image signal input unit repeatedly inputting an odd-numbered frame of a first parallax, an odd-numbered frame of a second parallax, an even-numbered frame of the first parallax, and an even-numbered frame of the second parallax, in this order; a frame memory storing the first and second parallax data having been input; a memory control unit alternately reading as field data (m+1) pieces (m is an integer of one or larger than one) of identical odd-numbered frames of the first parallax and m pieces of identical odd-numbered frames of the second parallax, and subsequently alternately reading as field data m pieces of identical even-numbered frames of the first parallax and (m+1) pieces of identical even-numbered frames of the second parallax; and an image output unit outputting the field data having been read.

    • The invention provides a transcoder and a transcoding method capable of quickly transcoding video data of different compressive encoding schemes without increasing the circuit scale. A transcoder including a decoder (1), a syntax conversion section (2), and an encoder (3) is used. The decoder (1) decodes video data compressively encoded in accordance with the MPEG-2 scheme, extracts motion vectors produced in accordance with the MPEG-2 scheme, and performs dequantization on the video data other the motion vectors. The syntax conversion section (2) converts the syntax of the video data obtained from the decoder (1) to the H.264 scheme. The encoder (3) quantizes the video data obtained as a result of syntax conversion and compressively encodes it along with the extracted motion vectors in accordance with the H.264 scheme. The encoder (3) adds a descriptor indicating that the motion vectors have been produced in accordance with the MPEG-2 scheme to the obtained data.

    • A digital image processing device in which the transfer data amount is reduced and a plurality of OSD images are superimposed on video includes: a sequencer configured to overlay a plurality of OSD images on each other considering their priorities and store a resultant synthesized image in a work memory; a switch signal generation section configured to generate a switch signal indicating which pixel among pixels of the plurality of OSD images should be displayed as a pixel of the synthesized image based on coordinate data indicating regions in which the plurality of OSD images are displayed and the priorities of the plurality of OSD images; and a conversion section configured to store lookup tables each indicating the relationship between index data and data representing a color corresponding to the index data, convert index data of the synthesized image read from the work memory to data representing a corresponding color using the lookup table corresponding to the switch signal, and output the resultant data.
