    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an effective and proper base isolation device which has excellent damping capability by a simple structure.SOLUTION: The base isolation device includes a device body which is elastically deformed by relative vibration generated between a structure 1 and a supporting structure 2 so as to retain the structure on the supporting structure and a damping mechanism which is mounted to the device body to damp the vibration thereof. The damping mechanism is formed of fibrous materials 12 provided between both ends of the device body to absorb vibration energy by being broken upon receiving a predetermined tensile load. The fibrous materials 12 are disposed at sides of base isolation rubber 11 as the device body along the vertical direction. Both ends of the fibrous materials are locked to upper and lower mounting jigs 13, 14 of the base isolation rubber. A plurality of fibrous materials are provided in parallel and the length and/or an inclination angle to the vertical direction of each fibrous fiber are set in such a way that the fibrous material is broken stepwise.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a joint structure of an existing member and new members which join the existing member and the new members without forming a through-hole in the existing member by drilling, and also provide a method for joining new members to an existing member.
      SOLUTION: New members 2-5 include extending/fixing parts 2a, 3a, 4a, 5a which are formed so as to extend from the outer periphery of the existing member 1 outward and in which through-holes 6, 7 are formed beforehand, respectively. The new members 2-5 are disposed at predetermined positions where the new members are brought into contact with the outer periphery of the existing member 1, connection members 8 are inserted into the through-holes 6, 7 communicating with each other, respectively, and both ends of the connection members 8 are fixed to the extending/fixing members 2a, 3a, 4a, 5a of the new members 2-5, respectively. Thereby, the plurality of new members 2-5 are connected to each other by the connection members 8 disposed so as to surround the outer periphery of the existing member 1, the new members are pressed against the outer periphery of the existing member 1 to join the existing member 1 to the new members 2-5.

At the inside of the pier 2, the successively arranged first main bar 7 and second main bar 8 are connected to each other through a sleeve 9 in the upper part 2a of the pier 2 having big bending moment.
