    • The present invention relates to flameproof thermoplastic resin compositions comprising (A) a base resin consisting of (1) 80 to 96% by weight of a thermoplastic, halogen-free polycarbonate, and (2) 4 to 20% by weight of a core-shell type ABS resin with a graft index of 40 or above, which is obtained by grafting 25 to 45% by weight of a styrene and 10 to 15% by weight of an acrylonitrile onto 45 to 60% by weight of a butadiene rubber, (B) 5 to 20 parts by weight, per 100 parts by weight of the base resin(A), of a phosphate composition, and (C) 0.1 to 2.0 parts by weight, per 100 parts by weight of the base resin(A), of a perfluoroalkane polymer. The phosphate composition is represented as the general formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3, R.sub.4, and R.sub.5 independently of one another are C.sub.6 -C.sub.20 aryl or alkyl-substituted C.sub.6 -C.sub.20 aryl, n is 0 to 5, and the average n of the phosphate composition is, n is 0 to 5, about 0.3 to 0.8.

    • The flameproof thermoplastic resin compositions of this invention comprise from 2 to 20 parts by weight of aromatic diphosphates, from 2 to 7 parts by weight of phosphorous compounds and from 0.1 to 2.0 parts by weight of polyfluoroalkyl resins per 100 parts by weight of the resin mixture consisting of from 60 to 98% by weight of polycarbonate resins, from 2 to 40% by weight of styrene-containing graft copolymer resins, and from 0 to 20% by weight of styrene-containing copolymer resins. The structural formula of said aromatic diphosphates is as follows (I): ##STR1## in which, R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are same or different lower alkyls, R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 are same or different hydrogen atom or alkyl groups, Y is a single bond or --CH.sub.2 --, --C(CH.sub.3).sub.2 --, --S--, --SO.sub.2 --, --O--, --CO--, or --N.dbd.N--, k is 0 or 1, and m is an integer of 0 to 4.

    • A flameproof thermoplastic resin composition is substantially free of phenolic resin, red phosphorous and silicone resin and comprises (A) about 40-95 parts by weight of a rubber modified styrene-containing resin comprising (a1) about 20-95% by weight of a styrene-containing graft copolymer resin containing about 19-50% by weight of acrylonitrile in the copolymer excluding rubber and (a2) about 5-80% by weight of a styrene-containing copolymer containing about 19-50% by weight of acrylonitrile; (B) about 5-60 parts by weight of a polyphenylene ether resin; (C) about 2-40 parts by weight of a compatabilizer comprising (c1) a styrene-containing copolymer containing about 5-18% by weight of acrylonitrile in the copolymer per 100 parts by weight of the sum of (A) and (B) or (c2) a styrene-containing graft copolymer having up to about 60% by weight of rubber wherein the compatabilizer contains about 5-18% by weight of acrylonitrile in the copolymer excluding rubber, per 100 parts by weight of the sum of (A) and (B); and (D) about 5-30 parts by weight of an aromatic phosphoric acid ester per 100 parts by weight of the sum of (A) and (B). The physical properties and flame retardance of the resin compositions according to the present invention are adversely affected by the presence of 3% or more by weight of polycarbonate based on the total weight of the composition.

    • A flameproof thermoplastic resin composition substantially free of phenolic resin, red phosphorous and silicone resin comprises (A) about 40-95 parts by weight of a rubber modified styrene-containing graft copolymer resin, (B) about 5-60 parts by weight of polyphenylene ether resin; (C) about 5-30 parts by weight of aromatic phosphoric acid ester per 100 part by weight of (A) and (B) wherein the styrene-containing copolymer chains in rubber modified styrene-containing resin (A) comprise (i) about 5-20% by weight having an acrylonitrile fractionation content of 0-9% by weight (ii) about 10-40% by weight having an acrylonitrile fractionation content of 9-20% by weight and (iii) about 40-80% by weight having an acrylonitrile fractionation content of not less than 20% by weight acrylonitrile and the sum of (i), (ii), and (iii) is 100% by weight of the total weight of styrene-containing copolymer chains in rubber modified styrene-containing resin (A). The use of a rubber modified styrene-containing copolymer resin having a particular nitrile content distribution with polyphenylene ether resin to form a base resin and an aromatic phosphoric acid ester flame retardant produces resin compositions with high impact strength and flame retardancy. The compositions according to the present invention are substantially free of phenolic resin, red phosphorous, silicone resin and other components that are required by the prior art compositions containing polyphenylene ether resins and ABS type graft copolymers.

    • The flameproof thermoplastic resin composition of the present invention comprises (A) 40 to 95 parts by weight of a rubber modified styrene-containing resin composed of (a1) 20 to 100% by weight of a styrene-containing graft copolymer resin including 18 to 50% by weight of acrylonitrile in the copolymer excluding rubber; and (a2) 0 to 80% by weight of a styrene-containing copolymer resin containing 18 to 50% by weight of acrylonitrile; (B) 5 to 60 parts by weight of polyphenylene ether resin; (C) 2 to 40 parts by weight of a styrene-containing copolymer or styrene-containing graft copolymer resin containing 5 to 18% by weight of acrylonitrile per 100 parts by weight of the sum of (A) and (B); and (D) 5 to 30 parts by weight of an aromatic phosphoric acid ester compound per 100 parts by weight of the sum of (A) and (B). The method of preparing the flameproof thermoplastic resin is (i) preparing master batch in the range of 40 to 95 parts by weight of polyphenylene ether (PPE) (B), 5 to 60 parts by weight of styrene-containing graft copolymer resin or styrene-containing copolymer resin having 5 to 18% by weight of acrylonitrile content and 0 to 30 parts by weight of aromatic phosphoric acid ester compound (D) at 250 to 300° C. of molding temperature; and (ii) adding a rubber modified styrene-containing resin (A) and an aromatic phosphoric acid ester compound (D) to the master batch and extruding at 200 to 260° C. of molding temperature to be a final resin comprising 40 to 95 parts by weight of ABS resin, 5 to 60 parts by weight of PPE (B) and 5 to 30 parts by weight of aromatic phosphoric acid ester compound (D).
