The dynamic purchase ordering functionality receives a purchase order confirmation from a supplier and notifies the purchaser. If the supplier provides a deviating quantity in the purchase order confirmation (i.e., the supplier confirmed quantity is different than the purchaser ordered quantity), a dynamic availability of the product and/or service with the deviating quantity is determined and presented to the purchaser along with the purchase order confirmation in order to assist the purchaser in responding to the supplier's purchase order confirmation and to provide the purchaser with an integrated set of data in order to allow the purchaser greater flexibility and efficiency in responding to the supplier's purchase order confirmation. In this manner the purchase ordering system may be enhanced from the purchaser's perspective.

    • A tool for use in a computer system revises a large set of transaction records, for example hundreds or thousands of records, with a convenient user interface. An operator builds a query for a database to retrieve transaction records. The tool generates temporary copies of the transaction records that are responsive to the query and applies a specified data revision operation to each of the temporary copies. The operator may review and approve the data revision before it is committed to the database system. After receiving approval from an operator, the computer system substitutes the revised temporary copies for the transaction records in the database.

    • The present invention provides a system and method for optimizing a purchase order. While generating a purchase order, a purchasing agent may aggregate a company's purchasing requirements into a single purchase order, receive notification of a supplier's offers for discounts to determine whether it would be advantageous to modify a purchase request, or view evaluations of a supplier's past performance. Upon receipt of a purchase request, potential suppliers are identified to fulfill the request. A purchasing agent may then see whether a purchase request may be aggregated with other purchase requests or whether conditions are present that may trigger other opportunities to optimize the purchase order. As a result, a purchase order is generated that has been optimized to reduce costs as well as take advantage of other benefits that the purchaser may be interested in.
