    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ferromagnetic plate and an eddy current type reduction gear that increase the density of a line of magnetic force that goes toward a rotor from a permanent magnet via a pole piece, increase the density of a line of magnetic force that enters the rotor from the rear rotational side of the pole piece, make the line of magnetic force from the permanent magnet easily enter the rotor via the pole piece, make the line of magnetic force from the rotor easily enter the pole piece, and improve braking torque particularly when braking.
      SOLUTION: The pole piece 4 is arranged so as to oppose the permanent magnets 5, 5a and 5b of the eddy current type reduction gear. Between external and internal peripheries of the pole piece 4, throttled parts 4a each having a cross section smaller than the internal peripheral surface, or than the external peripheral surface, or than the area of the external peripheral surface are formed at either the external periphery or the internal periphery. A forward protrusion 4c and a backward protrusion 4b are formed for braking, which are formed such that forward and backward external peripheral sides facing traveling directions of rotations of the rotors 2a, 2b are flatly protruded. A projected shape viewed from the upper side of a main surface is spread toward the front side or the backside facing the traveling directions of the rotations.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small and light eddy current speed reducer by reducing power required for switching to nonbraking and compactifying an apparatus.
      SOLUTION: This small and light eddy current speed reducer is provided with a braking disc attached to a rotary shaft, a guide cylinder supported by a nonrotating section, a retaining ring capable of shifting back and forth in the direction of the rotary shaft, a plurality of permanent magnets arranged so that their magnetic poles adjoining each other in the circumferential direction are set facing each other, and a ferromagnetic material. A magnet-supporting plate mounted with each permanent magnet is attached tiltably to the retaining ring, or the retaining ring is divided into a plurality of segments in the circumferential direction, and they are tiltably constituted in the direction of the rotary shaft.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an eddy-current reduction gear which is of simple structure and yet excellent in braking efficiency, and is small in switching stroke and capable of high-speed switching.
      SOLUTION: The eddy-current reduction gear comprises a braking disk coupled with a rotating shaft; a plurality of permanent magnets disposed so that their magnetic pole faces are opposed to the braking disk; and a driving mechanism which moves a plurality of the permanent magnets close to and away from the braking disk. Preferably, the eddy-current reduction gear further comprises a guide cylinder which is supported on a non-rotational structural portion that is not connected with the rotating shaft, houses a retaining ring, and is disposed opposite to the braking disk. The guide cylinder is provided with a ferromagnetic material in a position opposite the braking disk. Or, the whole of the guide cylinder, including its end face opposed to the permanent magnets, is formed of a nonmagnetic material.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an eddy current reduction gear which is easy of weight reduction and compactification with simple structural design and exhibits excellent braking efficiency. SOLUTION: This eddy current reduction gear is equipped with a braking disc which is attached to a rotating shaft, a guiding tube which is arranged in opposition to the main face of the above braking disc being supported by a non-rotating part, a retention member which can shift in the direction of approaching the above braking disk and the direction of going away from it stored in the above guiding tube, a plurality of permanent magnets which are arranged with the magnetic poles of their adjacent magnetic pole faces reverse to each other and besides with their magnetic pole faces in question facing the main face of the above brake disc on the face opposed to the main face of the above braking disc of the above retention member, and ferromagnetic materials which are provided at the end face of the above guiding tube so as to oppose the above permanent magnets. These are an eddy current reduction gear excellent in braking efficiency which is characterized by enlarging the density of magnetic flux at the braking disc by providing itself, with a high conductivity region having conductivity higher than that of the member mainly constituting the braking disc, or forming a cover layer on this high conductivity region, or constituting a projection, and its manufacturing method.
