摘要： A fuel pump having a rotary drive shaft (24), a high pressure pump (70) and a transfer pump (150). The high pressure pump has one or more reciprocating pumping plungers (14) and a pumping plunger actuator (62, 48, 66) driven by the drive shaft for reciprocating each pumping plunger to provide alternating intake and pumping phases of operation of the high pressure pump, at a frequency determined by the rotational speed of the drive shaft, for respectively receiving an intake charge of fuel and delivering fuel at high pressure for fuel injection. The fuel transfer pump has a reciprocating transfer plunger (152) reciprocated to provide alternating intake and transfer phases of operation of the transfer pump for respectively receiving fuel and transferring fuel under pressure to the high pressure pump. The transfer pump comprises a transfer plunger actuator (176, 182, 60) driven by the drive shaft to reciprocate the transfer plunger at the same frequency as the high pressure pump and in predetermined synchronism with the high pressure pump to transfer fuel intermittently to the high pressure pump during the intake phase of operation of the high pressure pump and the transfer phase of operation of the transfer pump.

摘要： A fuel filter assembly (200) employs a base (212) having a canister configuration for receiving and mounting a disposable filter element cartridge (214). The cartridge (214) includes a dual stage filter system wherein fuel flows axially to a primary filter element (274) for removing particulate matter and coalescing water droplets and axially to a secondary filter stage (292) which functions as a water barrier. The filtered fuel flows axially and through an outlet passage (249) in the base. Water may be collected in a sump (242). The cartridge is retained on the base by a collar (263) which engages against a roll seam structure (281) of the cartridge.

摘要： An electronic control unit (ECU 58) includes means for actuating each injector individually at a selected different time, and for a prescribed interval, during each cycle of the engine. A high pressure fuel supply pump (18) having a high pressure discharge passage (38) fluidly connected to the common rail (20), and to a low pressure feed fuel inlet passage (36). A control signal (60) controls the timing and duration of a solenoid valve (28) to control the discharge pressure of the high pressure pump between injection events by diverting the pump discharge so the flow recirculates through the pump at a lower pressure.
