    • Disclosed is a system and method for channel decoding speech frames in a receiver capable of multiple (M) codec modes, wherein channel encoded speech frames include an inband bit portion and a speech portion. An inband bit decoder decodes the inband bit portion (700) of a received frame to obtain confidence levels associated with each of the M codec modes. Using these confidence levels, the codec modes are ordered from most to least likely. The speech frame is then decoded by a channel decoder using the most likely codec mode (704). A frame determination check (720) is performed to determine the quality of the decoded speech frame. If the decoded speech frame is determined to be of poor quality, then the channel decoding process is repeated using the next most likely codec mode (736) corresponding to the next highest inband bit decoding confidence level. This process is repeated until a good speech frame is decoded or some exit criteria is reached.

    • A portable electronic device that includes an antenna and at least one of a transmitter or a receiver connected to the antenna for transferring information between the portable electronic device and a corresponding device via the antenna. The corresponding device includes a visual indicator indicative of a location of an antenna of the corresponding device. The portable electronic device further includes an imaging device for obtaining an image of the visual indicator, an image analyzer for determining a location of the portable electronic device antenna relative to that of the corresponding device based on the image, a direction analyzer for determining a movement direction of the portable electronic device that would reduce an alignment offset between the antennas, and a directional indicator for indicating the movement direction to a user of the portable electronic device. This guides the user to move the antenna as close as possible to the antenna of the receiver, for Near Field Communication (NFC).

    • A system and method of determining whether a receiver in active (non-DTX) mode should remain in active (non-DTX) mode or switch to inactive (DTX) mode and vice versa. For switching from non-DTX to DTX mode in a receiver, a received AMR frame is subjected to a SID FIRST marker comparison. If the results of the SID FIRST marker comparison exceed a SID FIRST threshold, then the received AMR frame is processed as a SID FIRST frame and the receiver is switched to DTX mode. Otherwise, the received AMR frame is subjected to a SID UPDATE marker comparison. If the results of the SID UPDATE marker comparison exceed a SID UPDATE threshold, then the received AMR frame is processed as a SID UPDATE frame and the receiver is switched to DTX mode. Otherwise, the received AMR frame is processed as a voice frame in non-DTX mode. For switching from DTX to non-DTX mode in a receiver, a received AMR frame in DTX mode is subjected to an ONSET frame comparison. If the results of the ONSET frame comparison exceed a threshold, then the received AMR frame is processed as an ONSET frame and the receiver is switched to non-DTX mode. Otherwise, the received AMR frame is subjected to a SID UPDATE marker comparison. If the results of the SID UPDATE marker comparison exceed a threshold, then the received AMR frame is processed as a SID UPDATE frame and the receiver remains in inactive DTX mode. Otherwise, it is determined whether the received AMR frame is a voice frame, and if so, the receiver is switched to non-DTX mode, and if not, the received AMR frame is classified as a NO DATA frame and the receiver remains in inactive DTX mode.
如果SID FIRST标记比较的结果超过了SID FIRST阈值,则将接收的AMR帧作为SID FIRST帧进行处理,并将接收机切换到DTX模式。

    • A femtocell base station is configured to transmit site-specific services data to in-range wireless devices, using a common broadcast channel. The site-specific services data identifies available services including, but not limited to, alternate radio signals available in the vicinity, such as FM radio signals, wireless local-area network (WLAN) signals, and the like; location-related services, including the availability of location beacon signals and/or location assistance data for use in position determination using assisted-GPS technology; and physical resources available to the device user, such as printers, copy machines, vending services, and the like. An exemplary mobile station is configured to extract site-specific services data from the femtocell base station signal, and to access a second radio signal using the site-specific services data. In some embodiments, the second radio signal may comprise a low-power FM radio signal, a wireless local-area network (WLAN) signal, a location beacon, or a radio-navigation signal.
