    • The invention relates to a system for providing hearing assistance to a user (13), comprising at least one audio signal transmission unit (10A, 10B, 10C) comprising an audio signal source (17) and means for transmitting audio signals (19A, 19C, 19C) from the audio signal source via a wireless RF link (12); a left ear receiver unit (14B) and a right ear receiver unit (14A), wherein each receiver unit is connected to or comprises means (60, 68) for stimulating the user's hearing and comprises means (46, 48) for receiving an RF signal from the transmission unit(s) via the wireless RF link, and means (70) for measuring at least one parameter of the RF signal as received from the transmission unit(s) at the respective receiver unit in order to create left ear RF signal measurement data and right ear RF signal measurement data, respectively; means (40, 140) for estimating the angular localization of each transmission unit by comparing, for each transmission unit, the left ear RF signal measurement data and the right ear RF signal measurement data, and means (38, 138) for processing the audio signals received from the transmission unit(s) via the wireless RF link by distributing the audio signals onto a left ear channel to be supplied via the left ear receiver unit to the left ear stimulating means and a right ear channel to be supplied via the right ear receiver unit to the right ear stimulating means according to the estimated angular localization of each transmission unit in a manner so that the angular localization impression of the audio signals from each transmission unit as perceived by the user corresponds to the estimated angular localization of the respective transmission unit.

    • The invention relates to a system for providing hearing assistance to at least one user (13), comprising: at least one audio signal source (17, 20, 25, 110); a transmission unit (10) comprising a digital transmitter (28) for applying a digital modulation scheme in order to transmit the audio signals as data packets according to a frame structure from the audio signal source via a wireless digital audio link (12); at least one receiver unit (14) for reception of audio signals from the transmission unit via the digital audio link, wherein the receiver unit is connected to or integrated within an ear- worn device (16) comprising a power source (90) and means (42, 64, 82) for stimulating the hearing of the user(s) according to audio signals supplied from the receiver unit, wherein the receiver unit comprises a digital transceiver (61) which is powered by the power source of the ear- worn device and which is adapted to listen, and optionally transmit, during part of each frame and to sleep during the remainder of the frame; wherein the receiver unit comprises a capacitor (91) connected in parallel to the transceiver for supplying the transceiver during listening or transmission operation with current and for being recharged by the power supply of the ear- worn device and a controlled current source (88, 95, 195) including a control unit (92, 97) for controlling the current (I 2 ) flowing from the power source to the transceiver and the capacitor a manner so as to prevent changes in the current flowing from the power source to the transceiver and the capacitor caused by the transceiver switching between sleeping and listening/transmission operation and vice versa, respectively, which are expected to add an audible noise signal to the audio signals supplied to the stimulation means.
