    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a journal bearing equipped with a JOP mechanism without deteriorating the performance as the journal bearing.SOLUTION: There is provided the journal bearing 1 including: a plurality of bearing pads 4 installed on an outer peripheral side of a rotating shaft R with spacings in the circumferential direction and supporting the rotating shaft from the outer peripheral side; and oil supply nozzles 6, 7 respectively provided between the bearing pads 4 adjacent to each other in the circumferential direction and supplying lubrication oil to the outer peripheral surface of the rotating shaft. In the journal bearing, on at least one oil supply nozzle 6 situated below the rotating shaft R among the plurality of oil supply nozzles, a contact surface 8 is provided for contacting with the outer peripheral surface of the rotating shaft when the rotating shaft stops, and a high-pressure oil supply means 11 is provided for supplying high-pressure oil, which has a pressure higher than the lubrication oil, to the contact surface via a high-pressure oil supply hole perforated inside the oil supply nozzle 6.
