    • The presently disclosed systems and methods may be utilized in connection with several different sensor suites for detecting objects in the ground. Such systems and methods may be utilized in conjunction with a variety of military and commercial vehicles. In various embodiments, a sensing system may be carried by a vehicle in a stowed or deployed position. While in the stowed position, a segmented boom may have a relatively small vertical profile in comparison to the length of the boom when fully extended. According to various embodiments, in the deployed position the height of the sensor may be controlled to avoid obstructions. A hoist connected to the boom may be utilized to move the boom between the deployed and stowed positions.

    • A mobile ad-hoc network includes a plurality of N mobile nodes and wireless communication links connecting the mobile nodes, which each include a communications device for transmitting and routing data packets wirelessly to other mobile nodes via the wireless communication links in accordance with a time division multiple access (TDMA) data transmission protocol using a TDMA epoch that is divided into a beacon interval, digital voice interval and digital data interval. The mobile nodes monitor channel conditions using the beacon, digital voice and digital data intervals and provide a network conductivity performance as valid receptions occur within mobile nodes. A data rate is calculated and set for other N−1 mobile nodes using monitored channel conditions for the beacon, digital voice and digital data intervals.

    • A sortation and sequencing system for sorting a plurality of different items into discrete orders and putting the items into a predetermined sequence within each discrete order or group of orders. The system includes an induction station for accepting items in random succession, and a sensor at the induction station for sensing an identifying characteristic unique to each item and for generating tracking signals uniquely corresponding to the items for tracking the items through the system. A controller receives the tracking signals and generates sort command and sequence command signals which are in part responsive to the tracking signals. A sorter receives the items from the induction station and directs individual items to selected ones of a plurality of sort locations, each sort location corresponding to an individual order or group of orders, in response to sort command signals from the controller. A sequencer associated with each sort location receives sorted items from the sorter and discharges the items in a preselected sequence at a discharge location in response to the sequence control signals.
