摘要： The present invention encompasses a urethane-modified rosin ester which is derived from an isocyanate and a hydroxyl-functional rosin esterification product of a dimerized rosin. The urethane-modified rosin esters, having a high softening point and good compatibility with hydrocarbon solvents, good gelability and good squalene resistance, are particularly suitable as binders for inks such as fast conversion lithographic inks.

摘要： Thermosetting elastomeric coating compositions are disclosed. The resinous binder of the coating compositions is based on a hard polyester polyol containing cyclic moieties plasticized with a blend of soft polyurethane polyols, one of which has a high molecular weight and one of which has a low molecular weight, and cured with a curing agent capable of reacting with active hydrogens, for example, an aminoplast curing agent. The coating compositions are resistant to solvent popping and are particularly useful on elastomeric substrates such as high density polyurethane foams, as well as on metal substrates such as steel and aluminum.

摘要： Disclosed is a curable filler composition which resists absorption into a porous substrate, particularly one derived from wood, comprising: (1) a liquid, ungelled binder of an unsaturated polyester resin having number average molecular weight of from 500 to 3,000 derived from an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid or anhydride thereof, the unsaturated polyester resin having been iminated with an alkylenimine, (2) one or more ethylenically unsaturated compounds different from and cocurable with the unsaturated polyester resin, (3) pigment, (4) a free radical initiator, and (5) optionally a carrier solvent for the filler composition.Disclosed is a method of minimizing absorption of a filler composition into a warm or hot porous substrate.Also disclosed is a porous substrate, particularly one derived from wood, having adhered to a substrate thereof the cured filler composition.

摘要： Polymeric microparticles and dispersions of polymeric microparticles in a liquid hydrocarbon are disclosed. The dispersions are prepared by reacting in dispersed form a preformed NCO-prepolymer containing a segment solvated by the liquid hydrocarbon and a segment insoluble in the liquid hydrocarbon with an active hydrogen-containing compound. Reaction proceeds to form polymeric microparticles which are dispersed in the liquid hydrocarbon. Also disclosed are the use of the polymeric microparticles in coating compositions and articles coated with the coating compositions.

摘要： Coating compositions having a high degree of elasticity, as well as toughness, durability and good metallic pigment pattern control are disclosed. This combination of properties makes the coatings particularly desirable for use on elastomeric substrates such as those associated with automobiles. The coating compositions comprise as a resinous component, an ungelled hydroxyl-containing polyester of high weight average molecular weight. The polyesters can be cured with a curative such as an aminoplast to give coatings having outstanding elastomeric properties and good pigment dispersibility, particularly good metallic pigment pattern control, properties not normally associated with polyesters for use in coating applications.
