The fixing method includes: a step of dispersing fine particles not dissolved or swollen by the softener into the fixing solution; a step of making foam-like of the dispersed fixing solution; a step of making a film of the foam-like fixing solution; a step of controlling the film thickness of the foam-like fixing solution to a desired film thickness based on image information; and a step of applying the foam-like fixing solution controlled in the desired film thickness to the fine resin particles on the medium.
