    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate a difference in concentration in a wide reading device due to variation in paper by using a simple configuration.SOLUTION: In an image reading device, a plurality of CISs 3 are arranged in zigzag form to configure a reading unit in such a way that their end parts in the main scanning direction overlap in the sub-scanning direction. The image reading device includes: a level calculator 404 which extracts the signal level of a read signal in a section where the respective CISs 3 overlap every main scanning line; a gain calculator 405 which calculates a correction value with which to correct a read signal on one side of the respective read signals of two adjacent CISs 3 out of the plurality of CISs 3 arranged in zigzag form so that the extracted signal levels in the overlapping section of the respective read signals will become the same; and an effective region level corrector 403 which corrects a read signal on one side of the respective read signals of two adjacent CISs 3 on the basis of the calculated correction value.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a facsimile device capable of transmitting an original document at a time in each appropriate size for every transmitting destination device even when the original document is transmitted to plural different destinations.
      SOLUTION: The facsimile device comprises a scanner (15) for reading an image of an original document, an original size detecting unit (16) for detecting a size of the original document to be transmitted, a reduction processing unit (17) for reducing the size of the original document to be transmitted, an e-mail communication control unit (24) for controlling the image information to be transmitted via an e-mail through a computer network, and a destination device deciding unit (20) for deciding what the destination device is when the original document is transmitted via the e-mail. The facsimile device is designed to transmit the original document in an original size or in a reduced size reduced by the reduction processing unit (17) based on the detected size of the original document and the transmitting destination device when the original document is transmitted by the e-mail communication control unit (24).
