    • PURPOSE: To secure safety cautioning an operator by indicating revolutions of the engine and activating corresponding graduation segments based on the set warning revolutions with a bar graph display employing segments.
CONSTITUTION: When the revolution of an engine is fed to an arithmetic circuit 4 as an ignition pulse signal, an output signal is transmitted to a bar graph decoder 8, a warning revolutions decision circuit 5 and a dangerous revolutions decision circuit 7 to actuate a driving circuit 6. As output signals are transmitted to connection lines 9 in the number corresponding to the revolutions from the bar graph decoder 8, a display is performed as shown by the shade when the engine revolutions are less than the warning value (5,500r.p.m.). When the revolutions are larger than 5,500r.p.m., the bar graph decoder 8 fails to be connected and another segment 2 is activated to display. As the circuit 5 set for 5,500r.p.m. transmits an output signal through the driving circuit 6 when the revolutions are less than 5,500r.p.m., only the segment 2 is activated to display. When they exceed 5,500r.p.m., the segment 2 fails to work and a display performed as shown by the blank. When they increase to exceed 6,000r.p.m., the circuit 7 emits an intermittent control signal and the segment 2 indicates the dangerous condition.

    • PURPOSE: To reduce the size by incorporating two indication items into one bar graph display with indicators corresponding to a vehicle speed and the set speed.
CONSTITUTION: When the output signal (f) corresponding to the set speed is larger than the output signal (e) corresponding to a vehicle speed, a selector 9 turns a switch 10 to a terminal 10a. Consequently, vehicle speed signals from connection lines 13
      1 , 13
      2 ... 13
y activate corresponding segments 2 of a display 1 via an OR circuit 12b to perform a display as shown by the shade. As a signal corresponding to the set speed of a bar graph decoder 7 is confined to the connection line 11x of the maximum value, it activates the corresponding single segment 2 to perform a display as shown by the shade. But as only one display is available, in actuality, both displays are combined. Next, when the output signal (f) is equal to or less than the output signal (e), the output signal of a comparator circuit 6 switches the position over to the terminal 10b, signals of both the bar graph decoders 7 and 8 activate the corresponding segment 2 to perform a display as shown by the shade. But since signals passing the connection lines 11x and 13x coincide with each other through an EX-OR12a, the display is made with the corresponding segment 2 receiving none of electric field applied.

    • PURPOSE: To measure the vehicle speed accurately by arranging the scale spacing to be switched in two modes, large or small according to the speed having the fullscale set.
CONSTITUTION: When a vehicle speed signal is inputted into a vehicle speed computing circuit 4, an output signal of 8-bit data is outputted to the subsequent stage according to the magnitude thereof. When it does not reach 60km/h and 80km/h, the set values with a set standard speed decision circuit 5 and a set medium speed decision circuit 6, no output signal is transmitted. Moreover even if the vehicle speed exceeds 60km/h, input is allowed only by one gate of an AND circuit 7 thereby providing no output signal. Therefore, when the vehicle speed is less than 80km/h, the output signal of the OR circuit 8 is "0". A NOT circuit 9 provides the output signal "1" and a signal is inputted into an input section 12 so that an output section 19 actuates the magnified graduation display mode 3b enabling detailed measurement. When the vehicle speed exceeds 80km/h, an output signal is applied to the OR circuit 8 from the circuit 6 and it provides output signal "1" to turn the output signal of the NOT circuit 9 to "0" and the signal to the input section 12 moves to "0". On the contrary, the output signal "1" is inputted into an input section 11 and output signal of the output section 18 works to cause a switch to the standard graduation display mode 3a.

    • PURPOSE:To recuce the influence of coloring due to optically rotatory dispersion and to obtain a high-contrast vivid display by using a polarizing plate having a specific transmittance and a colored plate having a specific light-transmittable property. CONSTITUTION:The transmittance of linearly polarizing plates 5 and 6 of a TN liquid crystal cell is 45-60%, and a characteristic where the light having >=500nm wavelength is transmitted is given to a colored plate 7 arranged at the rear of the rear polarizing plate 6. Two layers of these TN liquid crystal cells are provided, and one of them is used as negative-positive inverting cell where a common electrode 8c is provided on the overall region of a substrate glass 8b. By polarizing plates 5 and 6 of this constitution, the background is not dark, and a display pattern is displayed with black. An amber color having a high display effect is obtained by the colored plate 7. When this TN liquid crystal cell is doubled and an electric field is applied to the inverting cell 8, a negative display, namely, an amber color pattern on the black background is obtained; and when the electric field is cut off, a positive display is obtained. Thus, a high-contrast and sharp display is attained, and a high contrast is attained in positive and negative displays.
