    • Method for cutting a transverse element (10) for a drive belt for a continuously variable transmission from base material with a cutting die. The transverse element (10) is provided with a cut-out for accommodating a band set of the drive belt in such a manner that a first portion (13) of the transverse element (10) extends below the band set, a second portion (14) is situated at the same height as the band set and a third portion (15) extends above the band set. An outer surface part of the first portion (13) that faces the cut-out includes a carrying surface (23) for carrying the band set and a connecting surface (26) forming a transition between the carrying surface (23) and the second portion (13). According to the invention, the carrying surface (23) and the connecting surface (26) are separately formed, i.e. are separately cut (loose) from the base material.

    • The invention concerns a blanking member (30) that is used in cutting transverse elements (10) for a drive belt for a continuously variable transmission from basic material (50). The blanking member (30) being composed of two parts (30a, 30b) that are positioned against each other, each part (30a, 30b) for cutting a different part of the transverse element (10), whereof at least one part (30b) is provided with a raised edge (33) that extends along a seam between the said two blanking member parts (30a, 30b). The blanking member (30) in accordance with the invention forms a depression (23) in the transverse element (10), thus avoiding that a line-shaped bulge is formed on top of the transverse element (10) by basic material (50) forced into the said seam under influence of forces exerted in cutting the transverse element (10).
