    • The present invention relates to a co-polymer or oligomer thereof, of the formula (I) wherein: -R and R' are each independently selected from hydrogen, a hydroxyl group, a carboxyl group, an alkyl, aryl or alkaryl group or a hydroxy - or carboxy - substituted alkyl, aryl or alkaryl group, provided that R and R' together have a total of less than 23 carbon atoms; -X is hydrogen or a cation or an alkyl group; - n and n', identical or different, are greater than or equal to 0; - each of R y groups, which may be the same or different, and each of the R x groups, which may be the same or different, is hydrogen, an optionally substituted alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkenyl, aryl, aralkyl, alkaryl or alkoxyalkyl group of 1 -20 carbon atoms each of which may be optionally substituted once or more than once; - R z is an alkane group or a substituted alkane group or a heterocyclic group; - m and m', identical or different, are zero or from 1 to 100; - p is zero or from 1 to 100; and - each of the R v groups, which may be the same or different, is hydrogen, an optionally substituted alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkenyl, aryl, aralkyl, alkaryl or alkoxyalkyl group of 1 -20 carbon atoms each of which may be optionally substituted once or more than once.
