摘要： Some embodiments comprise a method of decoding a video bitstream that include receiving a first layer of data and a second layer of data, combining the received first layer data and the received second layer data, and decoding the combined data. Also, a method of video encoding that includes selecting data for encoding in a first layer and a second layer so as to allow decoding of the data in a single combined layer, and encoding the selected data in the first layer and in the second layer by encoding a coefficient in the first layer and encoding a differential refinement to the first layer coefficient in the second layer. A reduction of the number of dequantization steps to one is achieved in order to support pipelined dequantization in the hardware core.

摘要： This disclosure describes frame interpolation techniques within a wavelet transform coding scheme. The frame interpolation may be used to generate one or more interpolated frames between two successive low frequency frames coded according to the wavelet transform coding scheme. Such interpolation may be useful to increase the frame rate of a multimedia sequence that is coded via wavelet transforms. Also, the techniques may be used to interpolate lost frames, e.g., which may be lost during wireless transmission.

摘要： A method and apparatus for multi-layer integration for use in error recovery is disclosed. An error is detected in a multimedia data based on a first layer protocol and the detected error in the multimedia data is concealed based on a second layer protocol. In one aspect, the error in a multimedia data is detected based on a communication layer protocol and controlled based on a transport layer protocol. An error distribution of the controlled error is then determined based on a sync layer protocol and the detected error in the multimedia data is concealed based on an application layer protocol. In another aspect, a method and apparatus for multimedia data processing comprises error recovery as well as scalability. Finally, a method and apparatus as disclosed allows processing of multimedia stream by receiving multiple streams of encoded multimedia data, performing error recovery on an erroneous portion of a stream, and reconstructing the multimedia data from the multiple streams.

A method of decoding a multimedia bitstream may include receiving a multimedia bitstream having a base layer and an enhancement layer and decoding the base layer to determine whether the enhancement layer should be decoded using intralayer prediction or inter layer prediciton.

An encoder device encodes a first portion of multimedia data using inter-coding to generate a first version, and encodes the first portion of multimedia data using intra-coding to generate a second version. A decoder device receives a first version of a first portion of multimedia data, wherein the first version is inter-coded, receives a second version of the first portion of multimedia data, wherein the second version is intra-coded, and selectively decodes the first and second received versions.

A method of processing multimedia data includes obtaining content information of multimedia data, and encoding the multimedia data so as to align a data boundary with a frame boundary in a time domain, wherein said encoding is based on the content information. In another aspect, a method of processing multimedia data includes obtaining a content classification of the multimedia data, and encoding blocks in the multimedia data as intra-coded blocks or inter-coded blocks based on the content classification to increase the error resilience of the encoded multimedia data. 摘要： A video coding unit may be configured to encode or decode chrominance blocks of video data by reusing motion vectors for corresponding luminance blocks. A motion vector may have greater precision for chrominance blocks than luminance blocks, due to downsampling of chrominance blocks relative to corresponding luminance blocks. The video coding unit may interpolate values for a reference chrominance block by selecting interpolation filters based on the position of the pixel position pointed to by the motion vector. For example, a luminance motion vector may have one-quarter-pixel precision and a chrominance motion vector may have one-eighth-pixel precision. There may be interpolation filters associated with the quarter-pixel precisions. The video coding unit may use interpolation filters either corresponding to the pixel position or neighboring pixel positions to interpolate a value for the pixel position pointed to by the motion vector.

A decoder device receives transform coefficients, where the transform coefficients are associated with multimedia data. The decoder device determines a set of multimedia samples to be reconstructed. In one aspect, the set of samples to be reconstructed is a subset of a matrix of transformed multimedia samples. The decoder device determines a set of transform coefficients to be used to reconstruct the multimedia samples. In one aspect, the transform coefficients are used to scale partial basis images associated with the encoding method used to generate the transform coefficients, resulting in reconstructed multimedia samples.
