摘要： Methods and apparatus to process multimedia data enabling faster channel acquisitions, improved error recovery and improved efficiency. An encoder device encodes a first portion of multimedia data using inter-coding to generate a first version, and encodes the first portion of multimedia data using intra-coding to generate a second version. A decoder device receives a first version of a first portion of multimedia data, wherein the first version is inter-coded, receives a second version of the first portion of multimedia data, wherein the second version is intra-coded, and selectively decodes the first and second received versions.

摘要： Techniques for video encoding and decoding channel switch frames (CSF) to enable acquisition and re/synchronization of the video stream while preserving compression efficiency is provided. Systems and methods to process multimedia data enabling channel switching are presented. The systems generate a CSF with one or more network adaptation layer (NAL) units as a random access point (RAP) frame. Back-to-back frames are transmitted which include the CSF and a non-RAP frame, each having the same frame ID number.

摘要： In general, this disclosure describes techniques for exchanging information between a plurality of encoder modules and a multiplex module to combine segments of data from the encoder modules with an improved overall quality. In particular, the encoder modules associate their respective segments of data with quality and rate information and send at least the quality and rate information associated with the segments of data to the multiplex module. The multiplex module analyzes the quality and rate information to determine whether the segments of data that encoder modules desire to include in the current superframe fit within the available bandwidth of a transmission channel. If the multiplex module determines the plurality of segments of data do not fit within the available bandwidth, the multiplex module selects one or more of the segments to be resized based on the quality and rate information received from the encoder modules.

The techniques described herein allow for selective placement of frames between the base layer and the enhancement layer to make better use of unused bandwidth in the enhancement layer. In certain aspects, an encoding device may allocate a reference frame temporally located immediately prior to an intra-coded frame to the enhancement layer. In other aspects, the encoding device may allocate a reference frame that is located at the end of a segment of data that includes a plurality of frames, e.g., a superframe, to the enhancement layer. The described techniques may be utilized to help balance bandwidth between the base layer and the one or more enhancement layers.

In one embodiment, the electronic device is programmed in parallel with test code and a portion of the system code prior to board level testing. The test code is then used during board level testing of the electronic device.
