    • The problem of unsynchronized internal clocks of user equipments in a cellular communication system is addressed by a solution where a mechanism relying on a standalone clock function in user equipments is provided. Embodiments provide a network node that distributes a time reference to a user equipment (UE), and wherein the UE, using an internal clock function, time-stamps the logged measurements and/or events relative to the received time reference. When the UE has logged measurements the UE indicates to the network node that it has an available measurement log. The network node may then request several UEs to deliver their measurement log, respectively. The network node is then able to retrieve time stamped measurement information from the measurement log of each UE relative the sent time reference. Furthermore, the network node is then able to compare measurement information from each UE in a cell provided at the same time interval in all UEs.

    • A radio access network portion of a telecommunications network (18) which serves a mobile station (MS) is connecting to a core network. The radio access network portion has plural base stations (BS) serving respective plural cells (C), as well as plural control nodes (RNCs). The control nodes include a first control node (RNC1) for controlling a first group of the plural base stations and a second control node (RNC2) for controlling a second group of the plural base stations. A multicell area (MCA) includes cells served by at least some of the first group of base stations and cells served by at least some of the second group of base stations. The radio access network portion of a telecommunications network further has a paging control node which stores information regarding the multicell area. To page the mobile station in the multicell area, the paging control node (1) sends paging messages to each of the base stations serving the multicell area controlled by the paging control node: and (2) sends a paging message to any other control nodes which control base stations serving cells in the multicell area. The paging control node determines to which base stations and other control node(s) it should send paging messages by consulting a paging table (100). Preferably the paging control node is one of the control nodes of the radio access network. The paging control node is connected to the other control node(s) by an inter-control node link (32) over which the paging message is sent.

    • A first communications device communicates with a second communications device by means of a communications network. The first communications device receives information from the communications network, wherein the information comprises a network load value and a mean delay time value. The first communications device ascertains whether the network load value satisfies a predetermined relationship with respect to a threshold load value and if the predetermined relationship is satisfied then it communicates a data packet over the network at a designated time that is ascertained by ascertaining one of a number of different wait time values, wherein the ascertained wait time value has a mathematical expectation equal to the mean delay time value. The first communication device then waits an amount of time corresponding to the ascertained wait time, without attempting to communicate the data packet over the communications network during the time in which the first communications device is waiting.

    • Methods and arrangements for reporting of measurement information from a user equipment to a receiving entity via a network node comprised in a wireless communication system are disclosed. The embodiments relate to measurement logging function and immediate reporting function called Minimizing Drive Tests (MDT). The problem of reporting measurements in another RAT than in the RAT in which the measurements were collected in is addressed by a solution where a UE includes the measurement information collected in a first RAT in a message which is sent 36 to a network node in a second RAT. The network node then forwards 37 the message to a receiving entity without having to decode the actual content of the measurement log. This is done by introducing the receiving entity's IP address and/or similar addressing information in an address field in the message and using a container structure where the actual measurement log as reported by the UE is placed. The container need not be understandable by the network node and could be of a message format used in the RAT where the UE collected the measurement log. Thus, there is no need to reformat the measurement results.

    • This disclosure pertains to a method in a network node, a method in user equipment, a network node and user equipment in a wireless communications network. More particularly, there is provided methods and platforms for network based control of report messages comprising logged measurements in a wireless communications network. In accordance with some example embodiments, a UE (30) that has stored logged data i.e. logged measurements that are bigger than a single transmission packet, i.e. report message, segments the logged measurements and sends only a portion of the logged measurements that fits into a single report message. The UE (30) also indicates to a network node (28) that additional logged measurements exist at the UE buffer (44).
