摘要： An organic EL element (1) is provided with: a lamination body (6, 6') having a pair of electrodes (3, 5) opposed to each other and an organic luminescent material layer (4), which comprises an organic compound and is interposed between the pair of electrodes, for emitting a light from the organic luminescent material layer by supplying electrons and holes to the organic luminescent material layer from the pair of electrodes; an airtight container (10) for airtightly containing the lamination body to isolate the lamination body from an external atmosphere thereof; and a drying substance (8) airtightly contained in the airtight container and spaced from the lamination body in an internal space (11) of the airtight container, for absorbing moisture in the internal space. The drying substance (8) comprises a solid compound which chemically absorbs the moisture and maintains its solid state even after absorbing the moisture.

SOLUTION: A laminated body 6 pinched by an ITO electrode 3 and a cathode 5 to which an organic luminescent material layer 4 composed of an organic compound respectively face is formed on a glass base plate 2, and it is airtightly housed together with a drying means 8 into a glass sealed can 7 through a sealing material 9 by shutting off outside air, and an organic electroluminescent element 1 is provided. The drying means 8 is arranged in the airtight container by being separated from the laminated body 6, and it is composed of a compound for chemically adsorbing moisture and maintaining the solid state also after moisture adsorption. As the compound, alkali metal oxide, alkali earth metal oxide, sulfate, metallic halide, perchlorate, organic matters, etc., are suitable. They are easily handled in filling and cause no generation of leak current or crosstalk.

摘要： PURPOSE:To obtain clear EL display having high visibility without requiring, masking process. CONSTITUTION:A pair of electrically conductive layers 13 and 14 continuing to both surfaces of a substrate through holes 11 and 12 are arranged on an insualting substrate 10. An insulating layer 21, an emission layer 22 and an electrically conductive transparent film 23 are laminated in order on a pattern electrode 13a formed of one electrically conductive layer 13. Electrode terminals of the pattern electrode 13a and the electrically conductive transparent film 23 are taken out respectively from the electrically conductive layers 13 and 14 on the reverse side of the insulating substrate 10 through the through holes 11 and 12. The pattern electrode 13a has the same shape with a segment of a display pattern. Since a cut sheet, a colored sheet, a directional film and so on are superposed on the electrically conductive transparent film 23, visibility can be improved. A improved visibility layer can be also formed by applying pattern printing to the emission layer by means of ink containing fluorescent pigment and so on.
