    • The present invention relates to a detecting device of rotational position deviation, which detects deviation of the rotational position of machine axes driven by electric motors with pulse signals outputted from pulse generators, which are attached to at least two electric motors. One or more deceleration mechanisms are provided between an electric motor and a machine axis connected to the electric motor. A pulse transducer transforms two pulse trains outputted from the pulse generators to one pulse train, and an integrating counter counts the pulse train which is outputted from the pulse transducer, thus corresponding to the rotation angle. A zero phase pulse is outputted by each rotation of the pulse generator. The invention further comprises a count transducer transforming the count output from the integrating counter, and a calculator of rotational position counter calculating the output of the integrating counter and the count transducer and outputting rotational position errors.

    • A rotary press has a paper web supply apparatus, a printing apparatus, and a post-printing processing apparatus. The rotary press further includes at least one heating roller provided in a path along which a paper web carrying printed images runs from the printing apparatus to the post-printing processing apparatus, as well as at least one cooling roller provided downstream from the heating roller. The heating roller and the cooling roller are disposed such that the running paper web contacts each of the rollers over at least one-fourth of the circumference thereof. The heating roller is rotated at a circumferential speed different from a running speed of the paper web. The heating roller is a cylindrical body equipped with a built-in coil to which alternating current is supplied. The heating roller has cavities which are formed in a mutually communicating manner in the wall thereof and are filled with a thermal medium, and the outer surface of the heating roller is roughened. The rotary press can decrease installation space, the degree of complexity, manufacturing cost, and running cost of the drying apparatus.

    • An offset perfecting press is disclosed which has a pair of blanket cylinders on opposite sides of a web traveling along a predefined path. Bearing different images to be printed, two plate cylinders are disposed in circumferentially spaced apart positions on each blanket cylinder. Each plate cylinder is independently movable between an image transfer position, where the plate cylinder is held to the blanket cylinder in order to print an image thereon for subsequent transfer to the web, and an image nontransfer position where the plate cylinder is spaced from the blanket cylinder. Only one plate cylinder is held in the image transfer position on each side of the web. For a change from one image to another, the plate cylinders that have been printing the opposite sides of the web are retracted to the image nontransfer positions, and the other plate cylinders, rotating in phase with the blanket cylinders, are moved to the image transfer positions. There is no need for stopping the web or the blanket cylinders. An electronic control system is provided for automatic image conversion. A multiple-unit, multiple-tower, multiple-web rotary press is also disclosed which comprises a multiplicity of printing units, including one or more constructed as in the foregoing, which are arranged in multiple towers for concurrently printing multiple webs under automatic control.

    • A synchronous control device according to the present invention completes an origin matching between a master section and a slave section without causing a phase difference even when a deceleration device is employed in the master section or in the slave section so as to perform an accurate synchronous control. After an origin between the shaft of the master machine and the shaft of the slave machine is matched based on the first phase deviation, continuously an origin between the master electric motor and the slave electric motor is matched based on the second phase deviation so as to perform the synchronous control.
