    • A time division multiplex transmitting/receiving system converts a signal to be transmitted into a signal having a predetermined frequency in a predetermined time slot, which is transmitted as a transmission signal, and receives a transmitted signal having a frequency different from the frequency of the transmitted signal at another time slot different from the time slot of the predetermined frequency, and for demodulating this received signal. The time division multiplex transmitting/receiving system includes a fixed oscillator, a variable oscillator, a mixer, a modulator, a converter, a frequency divider, and a demodulator. The fixed oscillator outputs a first signal having a constant frequency. The variable oscillator outputs a second signal having a predetermined frequency within a predetermined band range. The mixer mixes the first signal with the second signal. The modulator directly modulates a signal to be transmitted by employing the mixed signal. The converter converts the received signal into the intermediate signal by employing the mixed signal. The frequency divider frequency-divides the first signal outputted from the fixed oscillator. The demodulator demodulates the intermediate frequency signal outputted from the converter with using the output from the frequency divider.

    • A bias control circuit for a radio-frequency power amplifier which performs linear power amplification of an intermittent radio-frequency signal. The control circuit includes a bias voltage setting circuit for supplying a bias voltage of a predetermined value to a power amplifying element during a time period in which substantially none of the radio-frequency signal is supplied to the power amplifying element, and for setting the idle current of the power amplifying element to a predetermined value. The control circuit further includes a sample and hold circuit for sampling and holding the bias voltage during the time period in which substantially none of the radio-frequency signal is supplied to the power amplifying element. The output voltage of the sample and hold circuit is supplied as a bias voltage to the power amplifying element during the subsequent time period of supply of the radio-frequency signal to the power amplifying element, whereby the idle current of the power amplifying element is stabilized despite any temperature fluctuation.

    • A portable radiocommunication apparatus on a time division multiplex communication system includes a power amplifier circuit, signal processing circuit, battery, stepping up circuit, storing circuit, and a switch circuit. The power amplifier circuit amplifies a transmitted signal intermittently transmitted at predetermined periods to a radio transmission power level. The signal processing circuit is operated by a voltage lower than the operating voltage of the power amplifier circuit. The battery is for example a battery constituted of a lithium ion battery, of which the unit cell has a full-charged voltage lower than the operating voltage of the power amplifier circuit and an ultimate voltage higher than the operating voltage of the signal processing circuit, with a large voltage difference between the full-charged voltage and the ultimate voltage. The stepping up circuit is a circuit with small output current capacity, operating at the voltage within the range changing from the full-charged voltage to the ultimate voltage of the battery, amplifies the output voltage of the battery at least to the operating voltage of the power amplifier circuit. The storing circuit stores power of which the voltage is stepped up by the stepping up circuit. The switch circuit is provided between the storing circuit and the power-supply terminal of the power amplifier circuit and supplies the stored power in the storing circuit to the power amplifier circuit only while the power amplifier circuit is amplifying the transmitted signal in substance.
