    • A pressure control valve for use in an automobile braking system includes a spool slidably movable for providing selective fluid communication between a pressure fluid source, a wheel cylinder, and a reservoir. The spool has, or is associated with, a pressure-bearing member responsive to a fluid pressure from the wheel cylinder, for applying a first biasing force to the slidable member to urge the slidable member to a position in which the wheel cylinder and the reservoir communicates with each other. An electromagnetic coil responds to an electric signal for generating an electromagnetic force to urge the slidable member to the above position. The slidable member is normally biased by a spring under a second biasing force, greater than the first biasing force, to urge the slidable member to a position in which the pressure fluid source and the wheel cylinder communicate with each other. The fluid pressure in the wheel cylinder is regulated to cause the sum of the fluid pressure in the wheel cylinder and the electromagnetic force from the electromagnetic coil to counterbalance the second biasing force.

    • A vehicle brake device A is provided with a master cylinder 10, a reservoir tank 12, solenoid valves 46 and 48 for adjustably draining brake oil from outlet ports 10a, 10b of the master cylinder 10 to the reservoir tank 12, a collision detection sensor 68 for detecting a collision of the vehicle, a fluid pressure meter 61 for detecting the master cylinder pressure, and an ECU 70. The ECU 70 detects the pushing-up of the brake pedal 11 based on the occurrence of a collision and the master cylinder pressure, and upon detection of the pushing-up, controls the solenoid valves 46 and 48 to adjust the draining of the brake oil so that the brake pedal 11 is withdrawn. Thus, a time point when the brake pedal 11 begins to be pushed up by the cause of the vehicle collision can be detected accurately and reliably, and the brake pedal 11 can be withdrawn accurately in dependence on the pushing-up. This reliably secures an anchorage upon which the driver keeps his body balance and reliably prevents an excess load from being exerted on the driver.

    • The electromagnetic valve is comprised of first communication path and second communication path with a throttle connected in parallel to each other, a first plunger having a first valve for interrupting/communicating the first communication path and having a penetration hole extending to the second communication path, a second plunger having a second valve movable in or through the penetration hole for interrupting/communicating the second communication path, a spring member for generating spring biasing force and a coil member for generating an electromagnetic attracting force, when energized, to have the first and second plungers come close to each other against the spring biasing force. The electromagnetic valve may be controlled in a manner that the first communication path is interrupted and the second communication path is communicated at a pressure-increase timing during an anti-skid control.
