    • A tinted polyester resin composition having good color and useful for many uses (fibers, films and other formed articles) contains an aromatic polyester polymer and a tinting agent; the tinting agent is contained in a content of 0.1 to 10 ppm by mass in the composition, and has a maximum absorption wavelength in the range of from 540 to 600 nm in the absorption spectrum in the wavelength band of from 380 to 780 nm, determined in a solution of the tinting agent in a concentration of 20 mg/liter in chloroform in an optical path having a length of 1 cm; and ratios of optical absorbances A400, A500, A600 and A700 of visible light spectra at wavelengths of 400 nm, 500 nm, 600 nm and 700 nm respectively to an optical absorbance Amax in the visible light spectrum at the maximum absorption wavelength, determined in the above-mentioned chloroform solution at a optical path having a length of 1 cm, satisfy the requirements of 0.00≦A400/Amax≦0.20, 0.10≦A500/Amax≦0.70, 0.55≦A600/Amax≦1.00 and 0.00≦A700/Amax≦0.05.

    • A water vapor-permeable waterproof fabric free from an environmental pollution problem upon being discarded is formed by coating a substrate fiber fabric with a composite coating layer including a lower layer (A) directly formed on the substrate fabric and an upper layer (B) formed on the lower layer (B), wherein the lower and upper layers are formed from one of polyetherester elastomers different from each other and each containing polyalkylene glycol (PAG) residues, and satisfy the following requirements: (a) in the polyetherester elastomer (PEEA), the polyalkylene glycol residues contain 90% by weight or more of polytetramethylene glycol residues; (b) in the polyetherester elastomer (PEEB), the polyalkylene glycol residues contain 50% by weight or more of polyethylene glycol residues; (c) the thickness of the composite coating layer is 5 to 50 &mgr;m; and (d) the lower layer (A) is in an amount of 5 to 40% by weight based on the total weight of the composite coating layer.

    • A polyethylene naphthalate fiber of the present invention comprises a naphthalate-based copolyester in which at least 85 mol % or more of the total of recurring units is an ethylene 2,6-naphthalate unit, and it is obtained by copolymerizing an alkylene oxide adduct of a divalent phenol expressed by the following general formula (I) in an amount of 1 to 15 mol % as a part of the diol component. H—(OA)m—O—Ar—O—(AO)n—H  (I) In the formula, A expresses an alkylene group having a carbon number of 2 to 4, m and n are same as or different from each other, and each express an integer of 1 to 5, and Ar expresses a p-phenylene group, an m-phenylene group or a group of the following general formula (II) —Ph—X—Ph—  (II) In the formula, Ph expresses a p-phenylene group, and X expresses a 2,2-propylene group, a sulfone group, a methylene group, an oxygen atom or a sulfur atom. This fiber has high retention ratios of tensile strength and knot strength, and is excellent in durability, and the fiber is suited for applications such as a dryer canvas for papermaking which is used under severe conditions in which especially wet heat treatments and dry heat treatments are repeated.
