    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structural color coating film-forming coating composition capable of easily and inexpensively forming a structural color coating film. SOLUTION: The structural color coating film-forming coating composition contains core-shell particles 10. In this composition, the shell part 3 includes a carboxyl-bearing resin which is noncrosslinked and either fusible by drying the resultant coating film or fluidizable by heating; while the core part 1 is a monodispersed one, 0.1-1 μm in average particle size, and neither deformable nor fluidizable by drying the resultant coating film or heating; wherein the refractive index difference between the shell part and the core part is 0.01 or greater, and the shell part accounts for 30-85 wt.% of the core-shell particles. This composition is subjected to coating, and by drying or heating the resultant coating film, the shell part is fused or fluidized to effect a coating film, and the core parts are regularly arranged in the coating film formed by the shell part and the regular arrangement of the core part presents a structural color.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To construct an accurate photonic crystal structure using core-shell particles by a simple operation.
      SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing a compact having photonic crystal structure includes: a step in which dry powder of the core-shell particles composed of a core part and a shell part is prepared; and a step in which the dry powder of the core-shell particles are heated and pressurized. The core-shell particles have an average particle size of 0.02 to 2.0 μm, the core part of the core-shell particles is a monodisperse core part, the softening temperature of the core part is higher than that of the shell part, the difference between the refractive index of the core part and that of the shell part is 0.01 or larger, the shell parts of the core-shell particles are fused by heating and pressurizing the dry powder of the core-shell particles, thus the compact having the regularly aligned core parts is formed.

In the manufacturing method of the photonic crystal membrane, the particles are regularly arranged in a membrane shape to form a membrane where only the shell part of the particle is fluidized at normal temperature or by heating and the core part holds a photonic crystal state.

    • A coating composition, a method for preparing a non-glare film by using the composition, a method for the micro-unevenness on the surface of a film by using the composition, and a method for controlling the number or depth of micro-unevenness on the surface by using the composition are provided to obtain a non-glare film having high light transmissivity simply. A coating composition comprises a thermosetting or radiation curing binder; 0.05-10.0 wt% of a resin particle containing a fluorine atom; and optionally a solvent which dissolves the thermosetting or radiation curing binder and disperses or swells the resin particle containing a fluorine atom. The coating composition is cured so as to form micro unevenness on surface. Preferably the thermosetting or radiation curing binder comprises a resin particle containing no fluorine atom; the resin particle containing a fluorine atom has a particle size of 0.03-0.5 micrometers; and the solvent is an ether-based solvent.
