    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inhibit the deterioration of seal performance caused by the evaporation of a cooling liquid as much as possisble.SOLUTION: This cylinder head gasket 1 includes: a first base board 3 arranged at either the side of a cylinder head 2 or the side of a cylinder block 4; a second base board 5 arranged at the other side of the cylinder head 2 or the side of the cylinder block 4; an intermediate base board 6 positioned between the first base board 3 and the second base board 5; a combustion chamber hole 8 and a water hole 10 which are formed at the base boards, respectively; and an annular shim 7 which is arranged between the first base board 3 and the intermediate base board 6, and surrounds the combustion chamber hole 8. Then, a seal means 12 for surrounding the water hole 10 is arranged between the intermediate base board 6 and the side of the first base board 3, and seals the cylinder gasket so that the cooling liquid which has flowed between the first base board 3 and the intermediate base board 6 from the water hole 10 may not flow into a space S adjacent to the shim 7.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal gasket having sufficiently improved sealing performance by giving a difference between the thicknesses of graphite sheets with embossing operation to ensure uniform bearing pressure required for sealing on a peripheral portion of an opening hole corresponding to a hole to be used.
      SOLUTION: The metal gasket 1 is provided in a joint part between a cylinder head 20 and a cylinder block 10, when used. It also used for a joint part of an exhaust system manifold having great distortion on the engine side. It comprises the graphite sheets 3, 3 mounted on both side faces of a metal thin plate 2. The at least graphite sheet 3 on the single side face is embossed and molded to be compressed in at least outward part to maximize a thickness T1 of the peripheral portion 5 of the opening hole 1a corresponding to a bore hole or a fluid distribution hole so that a thickness T2 of an embossed part 7 is smaller than the thickness T1 of the peripheral portion 5 of the opening hole.

Adjacent full beads are formed at positions separated from each other, and two connection beads 4b and 5b are formed at positions which sandwich the centerline connecting the centers of the adjacent combustion chamber holes. The connection beads 4b and 5b branch from one of the full beads and join the other full bead, and the connection beads 4b and 5b protrude in the same direction as the full beads. The water holes are located outside the region surrounded by the full beads and the connection beads.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylinder head gasket capable of preventing a cooling liquid from flowing into spaces between full beads and full beads in a case where the full beads are separated from each other.SOLUTION: The cylinder head gasket 1 includes: a pair of gasket base sheets 4, 5, in which combustion chamber holes 8 and full beads 4a, 5a surrounding the combustion chamber holes 8 are formed; an intermediate sheet 6 disposed between the pair of the gasket base sheets; and a shim sheet 7 disposed between the intermediate sheet and one of the gasket base sheets. The shim sheet 7 is positioned over the full beads, and first half beads 4b, 5b are formed on the gasket base sheets at locations such that the first half beads surround the full beads and are not positioned over the shim sheet. Water holes 10 are formed outside a region surrounded by the first half beads, and furthermore the first half beads are separated from each other at locations where the combustion chamber holes are close to each other in a state where a centerline connecting the centers of the combustion holes is disposed between the first half beads. According to this invention, the separation of a coating can be prevented by preventing the cooling liquid from flowing into the spaces between the full beads adjacent.
