    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an occupant judging method for a vehicle seat capable of precluding misjudgement of the seat occupant owing to the vibration of the vehicle or a movement of the occupant and of performing the judgement of the occupant stably. SOLUTION: A flat spring 15 for the vehicle seat 10 is supported resiliently by supporting springs 23a-23f which elongate in compliance with the load of the occupant. The seat 10 has displacement sensors 16a-16d which emit voltages complying with the elongation amounts of the supporting springs 23a, 23c, 23d, 23f. The arrangement further includes a first step judging to judge the occupant seated on the seat 10 on the basis of the voltage value emitted by the displacement sensors 16a-16d (ST100), a second step judging means to judge (ST200) whether the judging result given by the first step judging (ST100) is maintained for a specified period of time, and a third step judging means (ST300) which compares the judging result given by the second step judging means (ST200) with the previous judging result and determines the occupant on the basis of the result from comparison, and the judgement of the occupant is conducted.       SOLUTION: The seat is constituted by an approximately horizontally arranged seating part 21 and a back rest part 22 supported on a rear end of the seating part 21 and these seats are arranged/supported in a longitudinal direction. The seat is supported slidably in a longitudinal direction along a rail 12 provided on a floor surface. A lock mechanism for locking the seat to the rail 12 by engaging a projection 44 of a claw part 45 of a lock plate 41 with a lock hole of the rail 12 is provided. Locking to the rail 12 can be released by operation of an operation lever 35 from a rear side of the seat. A connection link 71 and a connection piece 91 are provided as a connection time lock release mechanism for releasing the locking of slide of the seat at a front side at connection of a connection mechanism for connecting the forwardly slid seat to the seat at a front side and the seats.
