    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide lithium manganese oxide powder particles and a production method of the particles having excellent volume energy density, promising high capacitance, responding to quick discharge, and having a columnar single crystal particle figure that is important for achieving an inexpensive lithium secondary battery, and to provide a lithium secondary battery using the particles as a positive active material.
      SOLUTION: The lithium manganese oxide powder particles are expressed by general formula of Li
      1+x Mn
      2-x-y Ti
      y O
      4 (the composition in a range of 0≤x≤1/3 and 0≤y≤10/9), and have a spinel-related crystal structure, with a particle figure of a micrometer-size columnar single crystal having a developed crystal plane. The production method of the particles is also disclosed. The present invention also provides the production method of the above lithium manganese oxide powder particles, and the lithium secondary battery using the particles as a positive active material.
