    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an all-solid type switchable reflection dimming electrochromic element and a dimming member using it.
      SOLUTION: The all-solid type switchable reflection dimming electrochromic element is formed with a switchable reflection dimming layer using a transparent conductive film layer, an ion storing layer, a solid electrolyte layer, a catalyst layer and a magnesium-niobium based alloy thin film on at least a substrate in a magnesium-niobium based alloy switchable reflection dimming element forming a multi-layer thin film on a transparent substrate. The dimming member incorporating the switchable reflection dimming electrochromic element is provided. According to the invention, transmittance is high when transparent. The switchable reflection dimming electrochromic element of a new multi-lamination structure capable of being switched in a short time period over a wide range and the dimming member incorporating the element are provided.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas chromic dimming member which can be downsized, of which the flexibility in the shape is increased rather than a conventional dimming member and which can be hydrogenated/dehydrogenated in a short period of time and with a little hydrogen.SOLUTION: The gas chromic dimming member includes: a pair of transparent substrates disposed oppositely to each other; a dimming part which is formed on one or both surfaces opposing each other of the pair of transparent substrates, and which includes a dimming element of which the optical characteristics are reversibly changed by hydrogenation/dehydrogenation; hydrogen supply means for introducing hydrogen-containing gas to a clearance between the pair of transparent substrates; and dehydrogenation means for removing hydrogen from the clearance between the pair of transparent substrates. The pair of transparent substrates are directly laminated via the dimming part and the surfaces opposing each other are brought into partial contact with each other in a region where the dimming part is formed.
