    • An image processor for combining a plurality of partial color images to produce a single whole image, is provided with: a calculator for calculating a first correction amount for pixel data of a first color image and a second correction amount for pixel data of a second color image in the aspect of at least one color component based on pixel data of at least a boundary portion of each of the first and second color images; a corrector for correcting the pixel data of the first color image and the pixel data of the second color image based on the first and second correction amounts respectively to reduce a color tone difference between the first and second color images; and an image combiner for combining the corrected first color image with the corrected second color image at their respective boundary portions.

    • First image data is obtained by performing an image capturing operation with a flash and, subsequently, second image data is obtained by performing an image capturing operation without a flash. By using data of a differential image between the first and second image data and a relative spectral distribution of flash light, the spectrum reflectivity in a position on a subject corresponding to each pixel is obtained and object-color component data is acquired as data from which an influence of an illumination environment has been removed. On the other hand, illuminant component data indicative of spectral distributions of a plurality of illumination light are prepared. By combining arbitrary illuminant component data to the obtained object-color component data, an image with a different illumination environment can be reproduced.

    • The present invention provides a technique capable of promptly and easily acquiring object color component data of a plurality of subjects even if the spectral distribution of light illuminating said plurality of subjects is not known in advance. For example, under predetermined conditions of irradiating a subject with predetermined illumination light by using an electronic flash, an image input system captures an image of a first subject to thereby acquire first color image data. On the basis of the acquired first color image data, the image input system estimates first object color component data of the first subject. After that, the image input system captures an image of the first subject in unknown illumination environments to thereby acquire second color image data. By using the first object color component data and the second color image data, the image input system estimates the spectral distribution of unknown illumination. Subsequently, on the basis of the estimated spectral distribution of unknown illumination, the image input system calculates a conversion matrix for converting color image data of the subject acquired in the unknown illumination environments into object color component data.
