    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for bonding silicon carbide sintered compacts to each other, which is used for obtaining a bonded silicon carbide body, in which body the silicon carbide sintered compacts are hardly shifted positionally from each other after bonded to each other, which body is high in bonding strength and airtightness and the hollow part of which body is made to have excellent dimensional precision even when the bonded silicon carbide body has the hollow part. The first silicon carbide sintered compact 11 includes a joint surface 11a on which a metallic silicon layer 13 is formed. The second silicon carbide sintered compact includes a joint surface 12a to be abutted on the metallic silicon layer. The joint surfaces of the first and second silicon carbide sintered compacts have each ≤0.6 μm surface roughness and are bonded to each other while interposing the joint layer 14, which is formed by heat-treating a metallic silicon layer, between them.
