The uplink acknowledgements are transferred through a common uplink feedback channel.

    • The exemplary embodiments provide in one aspect thereof a method to compose and transmit an uplink signaling message to report power headroom for a plurality n of component carriers, where the uplink signaling message comprises n entries each comprising an associated power headroom value. In one exemplary embodiment the plink signaling message comprises n entries each comprising an associated power headroom value for a corresponding one of the n component carriers, the plink signaling message further comprises at least one indicator for providing an indication, for each power headroom value, whether a value of a maximum output power for that component carrier, that was used to calculate the power headroom, is present in the plink signaling message, or whether a last previously reported value of the maximum output power in the plink signaling message that is associated with another entry and associated power headroom value, should be used instead. In another exemplary embodiment the plink signaling message comprises a first indicator for providing an indication, for the associated power headroom value, whether a value of a maximum output power for that component carrier that was used to calculate the power headroom is present in the plink signaling message, and where each of the n entries of the plink signaling message further comprises a second indicator for indicating whether the associated power headroom is virtual or real, and where in a particular one of the n entries if the first indicator indicates that the maximum output power is not present in the plink signaling message, and the second indicator indicates that the associated power headroom is real, then the maximum output power used in the calculation of the associated power headroom is indicated to be a last previously reported the maximum output power in the same plink signaling message.

    • The invention describes user equipment for communicating data in a communications system comprising a set of user equipment; comprising a transceiver arranged to receive a first data packet over a communications data channel and an associated second data packet over a communications control channel. The second data packet comprises a first identifier arranged to identify a subset of the set of user equipment and the first data packet comprises a second identifier arranged to identify at least one of the subset of user equipment. The user equipment further comprising a processor arranged to determine from the second data packet first identifier if the said user equipment is one of the said subset of user equipment and from the second identifier if the said user equipment is said the at least one of the subset of user equipment. Wherein the processor is further arranged to decode the first data packet if the processor determines the said user equipment is one of the said subset of user equipment and is the said at least one of the subset of user equipment.
