    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vertical shaft constructing method that can reduce cost and term of works for construction while preventing troubles such as boiling of sand or heaving of ground even though the depth of embedment is set short. SOLUTION: The vertical shaft excavating method is such that a ditch 2 is constructed with the inside of an earth retaining wall 1 provided under the ground excavated by underwater excavation to a specified depth and after that, a bottom board 41 for a vertical shaft is provided at the bottom of the ditch 2 and a side wall for the vertical shaft is provided at the inner circumference of the earth retaining wall 1 respectively by underwater work. After the ditch 2 is constructed, a plurality of cylindrical precast segment rings are connected with one another in the vertical direction and at least a part of the inner circumferential part 32 of the side wall is constructed under water before discharging water collecting in the ditch 2. Then, at least a part of the outer circumferential part 35 of the side wall is constructed under water with concrete placed into a gap between the earth retaining wall 1 and at least a part of the inner circumferential part 32, and thereby at least a part of the side wall is constructed under water. After that, the bottom board 41 is constructed under water and water inside the side wall is discharged.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To economically reduce burden on working without need of connection of a membrane material storing pipe by supplying a membrane through the inside of the pipe and facilitating connection working of the membrane in a pipe jacking method.
      SOLUTION: A shield machine 1 excavating a hole in ground 13 is provided with an annular membrane material storing part 6 on a rear end, and a membrane roll 10A winding a sheet-like membrane 10 in the form of a roll is stored in the membrane material storing part along a peripheral direction. The membrane 10 has a width of the substantially same length as the outside diameter of a buried pipe 20, and a fastener is formed on both sides along the longitudinal direction. One end of the membrane 10 is fixed on an excavation start end 16 of the ground 13. The membrane 10 is put along the circumference of the pipe 20 while it is pulled from the membrane storing part 6 by advance of the shield machine 1 by pushing of the pipe 20 to the hole, and at the same time, a chuck 11b is drawn with a string 12 by the shield machine 1 to close the fastener so as to close both side parts of the membrane 10.
