    • Problem: dust collection in a vacuum/reduced-pressure refining process is conducted using an inexpensive filter without causing damage on and burn of the filter. Solving means: a vacuum/reduced-pressure refining vessel (1), a dry type dust collector (3) using a filter (2) and a reduced-pressure exhaust device (4) are connected sequentially by an upstream-side duct (5) and a downstream-side duct (6), and a gate valve (7) is provided to the upstream-side duct (5). At the time of starting the vaccum/reduced-pressure refining process, non-oxidizing gas is fed into the upstream side of the gate valve (7) and oxygen on the upstream side is replaced thereby substantially. Thereafter, the upstream side is closed gastightly, the gate valve (7) is opened after the closed state on the upstream side is accomplished, and the dust collector (3) is operated. It is preferable that after the vacuum/reduced-pressure refining process the gate valve (7) is closed, only the non-oxidizing gas is fed into the upstream side of the valve to recover the pressure, and then the vessel is opened to the atmosphere, and it is also preferable that after the vacuum/reduced-pressure refining process, an opening part on the duct collector (3) side is closed during the standby till the subsequent vacuum/reduced-pressure refining process is started.

    • PURPOSE:To make it possible to utilize an inexpensive small piece cooling material having good shape and to exclude a defect due to the interruption of decarburization while reduce the amount to be required of O2-gas, in a decarburizing stage for blowing O2-gas and dilution gas into molten steel, by adding metal oxide after the intermediate period during carburization. CONSTITUTION:For example, in performing decarburization by an AOD process for simultaneously blowing Ar as dilution gas and O2-gas into molten steel, metal oxide, for example, a chromium ore, NiO, scale or an iron ore is added after the intermediate period of decarburization. Herein, the intermediate period during decarburization means a stage wherein C in molten steel reaches about 0.25% or less. By this method, metal oxide is reduced by Cr in the molten steel and it is supported that the formed Cr2O3 in the molten steel is reacted with C in the molten steel and contributes to decarburization. Because the oxygen concn. (Cr2O3 concn.) in the molten steel is kept high by thus added metal oxide, decarburization can be performed at the same speed as a conventional process by stirring without blowing O2-gas but only with blowing dilution gas.

At the time of starting the vacuum reduced pressure refining treatment, non-oxidizing gas is flowed at the upstream side from the gate valve 7, and after substantially replacing oxygen at the upstream side, the upstream side is closed, and after completing the closed condition at the upstream side, the gate valve 7 is opened and the dust collector 3 is worked. At the time of finishing the vacuum reduced pressure refining treatment, the gate valve 7 is closed and it is desirable to open to the atmosphere after receiving the pressure by flowing only the non-oxidizing gas into the upstream side, and further, to close the opening hole part at the dust collector 3 side at the time of waiting till starting the following vacuum reduced pressure refining treatment after finishing the vacuum reduced pressure refining treatment.
