摘要： PURPOSE:To improve the braking efficiency of a molten metal flow by providing a DC magnetic field generating device for molten metal flow, arranging a pair of electrodes in the orthogonal direction to the molten metal flow and magnetic field and installing a short circuit between electrodes. CONSTITUTION:Electromagnets 4a, 4b are arranged as the DC magnetic field generating device impressing magnetic field vertically on the flow path 2 of a molten metal 1 and a pair of electrodes 5a, 5b are arranged as well so as to be orthogonal with the molten metal flow and the direction of the magnetic field on the both side walls of the flow path 2. Both ends of the electrodes 5a, 5b are also connected by the short circuit 6 of the external part. A variable resister 7 is provided on the short circuit 6, if necessary. Since the current generated at the inner part of the flow path 2 thus forms the closed circuit passing the external path of the flow path 2 the braking force in the opposite direction of the molten metal flow is effectively acted on the molten metal 1 inside the flow path. Consequently the braking efficiency of the molten metal flow is improved.

摘要： PURPOSE:To control a transfer speed of a molten metal extending over a wide range, and to easily perform to cope with a fluctuation of a casting condition, by providing a DC magnetic field generating device, and an electrode being orthogonal to a passage and the direction of a magnetic field, on a transfer passage. CONSTITUTION:A molten metal 1 passes through the inside of a passage 2 provided on a bottom part of a tandish 12, cast into a casting mold, coagulated as a casting piece 15 and drawn out downward. In the passage 2 of the molten metal 1, an electromagnet 4a and 4b are placed so as to apply a magnetic field in the direction for traversing a cross section. To the molten metal for flowing through the inside of the passage 2, a magnetic field in the direction orthogonal to the direction of the flow is applied. Also, in the passage 2, a pair of electrodes 5a, 5b are provided on side walls of both its sides so as to be orthogonal to the direction of the magnetic field, and to both ends of the electrodes 5a, 5b, a DC power unit 7 is connected through a conductive body 6 of the outside. In such a way, by controlling a current for flowing through the molten metal 1 by the DC power unit 7, and controlling the damping force, level 14 in a casting mold 13 can be kept constant.
