    • PURPOSE:To permit stable continuous casting of an ingot by blowing gaseous oxygen to the extent of preventing the generation of form during solidification and quality deterioration for a specified period to a molten steel in which a specific deoxidizing element is melted and making the absorption thereof uniform, thereby establishing a specific relation between a casting speed and ingot thickness. CONSTITUTION:The gaseous oxygen or gas contg. oxygen to the extent of preventing the generation of CO foam during solidification and the deterioration in quality is blown through a gas blowing tuyere 7 into the molten steel 4 in a tundish 3 into which the deoxidizing element, preferable for quality, essentially consisting of Mn or Si or both thereof and having a less tendecy to floating and separating is melted. The uniform mixing time tmix of the molten steel 4 is set at the relation satisfying equation I with regard to the average residence time t0 of the molten steel 4 so that the adsorbed oxyegen is made uniform in the molten steel 4. The molten steel is then poured into a casting old 8 at the relation between the casting speed Vc(m/min) and ingot thickness d(m) satisfying equation II, kby which the contents of the total oxygen in the top, middle and bottom surfaces of the solidified ingot 9 are made uniform.
