    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porous structure with a coating capable of suppressing elution of silicon when it is dipped into molten aluminum or the like, and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: The porous structure with a coating composed of a composite material substantially consisting of silicon carbide and carbon, or of at least one of silicon carbide and carbon and silicon, comprises a skeleton part forming a three dimensional network structure and a coating substantially composed of silicon nitride for coating the surface of the skeleton part. Since the surface is coated with a silicon nitride coating, adhesion (wettability) of the surface to a metal is lowered and elution of silicon into a molten metal can be reduced.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decompose and remove aluminum nitride in dross and much as possible and to execute detoxifying treatment to the dross by coexisting the aluminum dross and water under grinding and stirring, and reacting the aluminum nitride in the dross with the water. SOLUTION: At the time of executing the detoxifying treatment by reacting aluminum nitride in the aluminum dross with water, the dross and the water in the reaction system are made to coexist under condition of grinding and stirring. Using quantity of the water coexisting in the reaction system is desirably in the range of 2.5-4 times the reaction equivalent to the aluminum nitride in the dross. The decomposing reaction of the aluminum nitride with the water is preferably carried out at a temp, in the range of 60-200 deg.C. The reaction is continued for a time in the range of 15-90min. The aluminum nitride is brought into contact with the water by grinding and stirring, and aluminum hydroxide layer produced on this surface is broken or its cracking is developed, and the water can efficiently be brought into contact with the aluminum. Therefore, the aluminum nitride is efficiently decomposed in a short time and can be removed.

The group 4A element or the compound of the same as well as the sintering additive such as Al 2 O 3 or Y 2 O 3 are added in producing the silicon nitride compacts so that the wettability to the molten aluminum is improved to enable the ultrasonic treatment to be performed suitably.
